~~~~~~~~~PROLOGUE~~~~~~~~~~ At the end of the great war 1000 years ago She crawled into the cave, she knew time was running out. People thought goddesses couldn't die, well that was never true. She stared at the rocky walls, hoping they could give her an answer to the maddening war. Why did he have to wage war on those alive? Why? He was her own kin, and he betrayed her. Exposed her weakness and used it to destroy her. She knew that he was dying as well, human bonds were so fragile. She heard footsteps at the end if the cave, only to see her most trusted looker, Julie-Su walking towards her. "My lady! You are hurt!" "Let me be, I do not have much time." "What do you mean?" "Time is of the essence, and so little is left." "My lady-" Suddenly Julie-Su was cut off. Her amber eyes flashed bright green, and a voice that wasn't hers came from her mouth. "The war is over, the dark one defeated. 22 years 'fore the marking of a thousand years will he arise. Bent to destroy the child of destiny. And with this child greatness will arise, and the dark and light shall become one." Julie-Su shuttered then collapsed. Seconds later she arose to face her. "Milady, what does this mean?" "That matters not, for I have great task to set apon you." "I shall do whatever you need of me." "You must go to the high priestesses tower, and go into the chamber of dark till the child's coming is near. Protect the child-bearer at all costs. And make sure darkness never finds her." "I will do as requested." Julie-Su stood up and ran out of the cave. The lone woman lay down on the ground, till the darkness encased her and she welcomed it in. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ / Comment and tell me what you think!!!!!!
~~~~~~~1000 years later~~~~~~~~~ Chancifer stroked Marrows head as he stared out at his kingdom, or rather, his younger brothers kingdom. He clenched his teeth. Yes that simpleton was KING of HIS kingdom. After years of plotting and scheming on his part, his brother STILL managed to nab the throne. His father was no idiot, he must of known that health can't be sucked out of you while your son becomes stronger. Angry he stared out at the kingdom, something was going to happen tonight. He could feel it in his bones. Giving birth is a lot harder than you would expect. Lavender discovered that very quickly. Carrie was telling her to calm down. But within minutes she had passed out cold. "Hello?" Lavender stood in a dark cave. Strange drawings covered the walls. She looked over to inspect one them. One was a large dark man, drinking from a river of blood. Another was of a robed woman walking out of a gold building. That's strange. She looked at a large one in the center of all the pictures. It looked like her, holding a baby. She was in the caves of prophecy. "Lavender." Lavender found herself in a huge field, surrounded by mist. "Lavender." "Who's there?" The mist arose to form the silhouette of a woman. "It is I." "Who are you?" "That matters not, for now you must run." "Run? Run where?" "Far. Grave danger awaits you here." "What do you mean?" "Grave danger..." The figure slowly stared to fade. "Wait! Come back!" "...danger..." And the figure was gone. Lavender awoke to find a baby in her arms and a splitting headache. "Carrie, what happened?" "You delivered while you were passed out." Carrie walked over to put a damp rag on her face. "It's a girl." Lavender looked down at the sleeping baby in her arms. She was very pretty for a newborn, with long lashes and lots of dark hair. Most newborns looked more like plucked birds. "Do you have a name for her?" Lavender looked down at her sleeping child. "Hope." Chancifer clutched the arm of his chair. It had happened, whatever it was. "My lord..." Without a thought Chancifer signaled Marrow to attack. As Marrow was happily eating what used to be a guard Chancifer paced the room anxiously. What happened that was so important? There was only one thing he could do now, he had to consult the crystal. Julie-Su looked through the window of a small hut. The child! She saw it in the arms of a beautiful but tired woman. She had already had the dream, so all there was to do now was wait. But unbeknownst to her or the people inside the hut, another looked upon the occasion. The child of prophecy? Chancifer looked into the crystals even more intensely. No doubt about it, this was the child written of in the ancient prophecies. The most powerful mortal to walk the earth. "Captain of the guards!" "Yes my lord?" In walked a tall thin woman with long gold hair. "Prepare the troops. I have a task for you." "Good evening your majesty." Matt payed no attention. He was bored. Nothing exciting had happened for months. Why did his father make him king? Matt was sitting on his throne, bored beyond belief. All he heard these days was
your majesty this or your highness that. He hadn't had fun since he ran away almost a year ago. But when his father took ill he had to come back. Matt sighed. Bored, bored, bored. The guards were scouring the countryside, trying to find the child. The only clue they had was that it was a black-haired baby in the arms of a beautiful woman. That was not very helpful. Julie-Su knew they were coming. Long before they were. She had to protect the child, but how? She looked down at her amulet, and morphed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ long update, hopefully a longer one later. -
Somebody knocked at the door. Carrie went to answer it. A short man wearing long robes rushed in. "Quick! You must leave!" Lavender looked at Carrie. "The guards are coming!" "Why would the guards come here? It's just a medical hut." "A medical hut is the first place they would look-" "Wait a minute." Lavender interrupted,"What could they possibly be looking for here?" The man laughed. "Isn't it obvious?" "Not really." "They want your daughter." Five minutes later they were in a carriage. The man drove while Carrie sat inside with Lavender and Hope. As the carriage moved Lavender found herself drifting to sleep. ~~~~~~~~~~7 months ago~~~~~~~~ Lavender walked through the marketplace with her older sister Tara. It was the first time since Darus disappeared that she felt happy. "Come on Lavender, we need to get home soon." "Come on Tara! Just a little longer." "No Lavender, you've had enough." Lavender frowned. "At least let me get my palm read." "FINE!" Tara threw her hands up in exasperation,"Just hurry up!" "Yeah, yeah." Lavender walked into a dark, heavily perfumed tent. A woman with long black hair and piercing amber eyes beckoned her in. "Come in child! All are welcomed here." Lavender took a seat in the chair opposite the fortuneteller. "Welcome Lavender." "How do you know my name?" "That matters not." "What is your name?" "Madame Su, please hold out your hand." Lavender put her hand on the table. "So tell me child, how many moons?" "What?" "Till the child?" "What child?" "Oh, you do not yet know. Do not worry, I will tell you everything you need to know." Madame Su stared intently at Lavenders hand. After what seemed like hours she let go. "So tell me child, how many moons has he been gone?" Lavender looked at her in shock, how could she possibly know that? "About a month." Madame Su nodded knowingly. "And you were in love?" "Yes, very much so." "He is not dead." "He isn't?" Lavender was enthralled now. "He is not, but you must not go looking. For he would endanger the child." "What?" "You are a mother." Lavender stood up. "Thats enough! Now if you don't mind I would like to go find my sister." "Wait-" Without another word Lavender stepped out of the tent, only to find the market without life. Everything and everybody was dead. She ran in a panic, where was her family. She gasped. There on the ground was her entire family. Her mother, sisters, father, all slain. What had happened? Slowly she walked away from the market, with only an unborn child and the knowledge that she was completely alone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lavender awoke with a start. Ever since her family died she had that same dream. So many people died that day, and as far as she knew the only person besides her that survived was Madame Su. She looked down at Hope. Was her daughter really worth the rest of her families life? Julie-Su sat at the front of the carriage, leading the horses down the easiest trails possible. She looked back inside, everybody was quietly sleeping. Lavender was no doubt dreaming of that terrible day all those moons ago. It still made her shudder thinking of how close Lavender came to being slaughtered by the Dark-Eaters. It had taken all of her magic to repel them while reading her palm. Lavender looked into the night sky. A full moon, Dark-Eaters and soldiers weren't the only threat tonight... <><><><><><><><><><><><><><> sorry this chapters kinda boring, but it's a pretty important one -
Suddenly the carriage jolted to a stop. Julie-Su got out to look at the wheels. One of them had completely shattered on a rock. Julie-Su looked around. No feeders, for now. If she moved fast they wouldn't attack. But how could she get another wheel? Lavender looked over at Carrie. "Why aren't we moving anymore?" They looked out the window, nothing but the dark awaited. The small man popped up by the door. "Don't turn the lamps on," He warned,"The feeders are out." They both gasped. Everybody knew the stories. How they were faster than a horse and smarter than some people. They were also bloodthirsty, very bloodthirsty. Chancifer turned to Michaela. "Have the guards found anything?" "Sir, many woman with newborns were to be found, but none as you described." "****." He looked down at Marrow and smiled. "I am displeased Michaela. And you know better than to displease me." "My lord-" "I am not finished. You, as one of the sisters of Adrin should know better." "My lord, let me make it up to you. I'll do anything." Chancifer smiled. "Anything?" A scream pierced the night. Julie-Su looked up. The feeders were getting closer. She looked at the wheel, it's stubborn refusal to be repaired was becoming tiresome. She heard marching from her right. Not good. On one hand she could face the feeders and they would all die, or face the troops and have the child be captured. And then Julie-Su knew exactly what to do. She opened the carriage door. First she had to morph. She watched Lavender and the other stare in awe as she became her normal self. Safeguard invisibility. A tricky spell that rarely works, but it was her only chance. She started muttering under her breath. "Hæÿ Tįø Ñåbįń... Hæÿ Tįø Ñåbįń..." Over and over, until she felt she saw right through the carriage onto the ground. She looked over at Lavender and the blonde, who were both terrified, and the child happily cooing in it's mothers arms.
sorry if you notice any similarities to LotS, I love that show and it influenced a lot of the story. -
