Okay so the story I am writing is based in the late 1800's - early 1900's. (London) It is based from 3rd person view and it is a romance/ drama ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She had just turned thirteen that day. She had hoped that this person wouldn't turn her down because of her age. She was nervous as he opened the front gate which was black and enormous. She walked up the front step and reached out her shaking hand to lightly knock on the door. And elderly, and kind looking woman opened the door, she was most likely a maid or a nanny. "May I help you, miss?" she asked politely. "I am Meredith Krentz. I am here about the job as a maid for Mister William Kain... Is this the place." "Oh... Well. I think the master was hoping for someone a bit older, my dear. Your mother? Perhaps?" "Ophelia? Who is at the door?" It was a man's voice. She heard footsteps walking towards the door and for some reason it made her shiver. "Master...!" Just then a hand replaced the elderly woman's and the man swung open the door. Her heart almost skipped a beat! It was a wonderful looking man. Young and handsome, he stared at her and tilted his head. "Who are you?" he asked. "I... Oh I'm Meredith Krentz... I'm here for the job as a maid. Are you Mister William Kain?" she asked shyly. Her face was red and hot. "I am... but aren't you a little young?" he asked. "Forgive me... how old are you, miss?" he asked. His face was gentle and kind and She smiled at him. "I just turned thirteen yesterday, Mister Kain," She responded. She knew he would turn me down instantly, somehow knowing he would do so just like all the others she had visited that day. But she was surprised with his response. "Come back tomorrow, once you have talked things through with your mother, I'm sure it'll be fine." Her head dropped in embarrassment. "I... I don't have a mother, Mister Kain... nor do I have a father," he voice was small and she felt his gaze upon her. "Oh... well come inside then, and we'll figure out something." She looked up to see him smiling at her. She smiled back and happily followed him into the house. He gestured her into the parlor and offered her tea, which she declined. "So you want to be a maid?" he asked. "Well... I need the money... and I needed a place to stay... so I decided this was my best choice. Besides at the orphanage I was able to cook fine meals and clean fairly well. Or that's what everyone said. So she was in an orphanage? He thought "Then I'd be happy to have you in my household staff," he said happily. He took het hand and held it in his. "Welcome to my home, Miss Meredith!" And that was just the beginning of a new happiness and a new life and family for the young orphan girl called Meredith Krentz... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meredith's face beamed as she watched Master Kain eat the dinner she had cooked. She was happy to see that he found it somewhat adequate to his liking. "Wow! Meredith your cooking is fantastic! I really like it! Are you really only thirteen years old? I'm really looking forward to having you work as part of my staff," he said smiling at her. "Thank you sir!" "Master Kain. I will take my leave now," said Ms.Ophelia. "I will be back around eight tomorrow morning. Meredith followed her to see her out. She smiled at the elderly woman and curtsied. "Now. Miss Meredith the master is young. He is only twenty years of age. His father is out of town for the next few months but will be back. There will be times when you will have to look after him, like washing his back in the tub or helping dress, mainly his shirts. You are still very young yourself, and I do not expect you to do this on your own." "Is there someone else?" "Yes. He is on vacation right now. But he is the butler. James Whiteherd. He is older than the young master's, but young himself." "Oh, alright. Thank you Miss Ophelia," Meredith said, a wide smile spreading across her face. William sat in his chair and studied the girl standing at the corner of the room. She had beautiful black hair and pretty dark eyes. She was definitely an amazing child, or so that was what he thought so far. "Meredith!" he called for her. "Yes Master Kain?" she asked as she came in to the room quickly. "What is it?" "Please, would you mind coming here for a second?" "Alright," she said as she made her way over to him. He caught her by surprise when he took her hand and by the waist. "Hm... I'd say that you could possibly be... haha nevermind!" "M... Master? What do you mean?" "Forget about it." "Please tell me!" "My wife."
Meredith backed away from the older man. She backed up into the wall her eyes widened. "I... I don't know you... we just met today! You're my master! I'm poor! And I'm only thirteen!" she said. Her face turned red and her breathing almost turned on her. "I know... but it would be good, if I were shown in public with a female figure. You have the beauty of an aristocrat and it'd only take a few weeks to get your etiquette and dressing up to formality." "No! I can't do it! There's no way I can live up to your standards! I... Please... " He didn't reply, he only stood up and took her in his arms. He lifted her chin and kissed her lips gently. "Love me... Learn to love me..." She tried to hide her shock the best she could. But feeling his lips on hers made her heart flip in her chest. "I... I can't. I mean it would be great to be loved by someone like you, but I just can't." "What if I... let you do whatever you wanted to do? Tell me what you want an I'll have it done. I'll do anything." "Why are you so persistent? Why can't you find someone else?!" "It's because... I can't say." "I... I'll think about it..." she whispered. "Thank you." She could feel her heart pounding in her chest. This man had been so sudden. How come she wasn't able to say "no" once and for all? This bothered her. But she decided to forget it for now.
The room was nice. It was on the third floor, but it the room was nicer than hers at the orphanage. She liked it here already even though this had been her first day. But her master! What was he saying? What was he asking her to do?! "I guess I'll think about it... I mean he seems like a nice person. I wonder what the society will think? What if they realize I'm a commoner?" she couldn't help but think of the bad things that could happen. The next morning she woke up pretty early, around six in the morning, she stretched an washed her face. She noticed that the master had put the desired uniform in her room. It was so cute! It was a black dress with a white apron and white collar that hugged the neck. A small white lace headdress (*like a headband) was on top of the pile. She had guessed that the master changed his mind about the whole thing. "Master!" she exclaimed when she noticed him cooking at the stove. He was dressed like a pauper and his blonde hair was still all "bed head" like. "Ah! Meredith! Come and try the breakfast I made, I'm sure you'll like it!" he said when he saw her. "Eh! You cook?! But that is my job sir!" she said as she immediately went to him and tried to take the pan away from him. He lifted the pan high in the air so she could not reach it. "Hey! It's nothing to get angry about. I love to cook, and I want you to enjoy it too. Come and dine with me for breakfast. Please, I want to get your opinion on my cooking, since you are a fabulous cook yourself." "You flatter me master... but I cannot do such a thing! It is something I should not do! Eating with my master could ruin my job ad a maid! Be fired! Be killed!" "You really are a funny girl! You exaggerate too much. Nothing will happen if you have breakfast with me! No ones going to kill you," he laughed. "Just come and eat with me okay?" "Okay," she mumbled. She watched as he dished out some eggs and a sausage. He sat down next to her and smiled at her. "Alright. Tell me what you think." She took a bite of everything and he face turned red. "It... it's really good sir! Far better than my cooling!" she exclaimed. She smiled at him. "The truth?" "The truth," she replied. "Good." they were silent for the next few minutes until William cleared his throat. "So... Did you think about my proposition from yesterday?" he asked. "I know I was really forward and I apologize... But did you think about it?" "Yes... and I'm sorry but I can't...."
