So I'm in need of someone to give me some mech help for my car... So I got a job and I bought a car to get me to and fro. Not much of a car. It's a 1993 Nissan Sentra. Bought it off this one chick. The car was nice. All was good. It's the 2nd week and yesterday I went to Jiffy Lube to give it a lil tune up. Y'know. Change oil filters and stuff. Totaled $115. So when the dude was like "okay you're all set" i got in the car, turned the ignition, and it wouldn't turn on. So I tried it ver and over and the guy was like "try giving it a little gas when you turn the ignition" so I did and it turned on. So i was like okay thanks. And when I tried to put it in Drive (automatic) the shift thing wouldn't move. So the guy came in again and it wouldn't move and stuff so like 5 minutes later we got it to move. So I put it n drive and we left. And on the way it like, stutters. Whenever it changes gears it stutters. Today on my way to work it stuttered the entire way. Anywhoot. So then whenever I wanna accelerate to merge into the freeway I gotta turn the 'over-drive' on. Cuz it makes it go faster. Hah. Anywhoot. Well now, whenever I turn it on, it slows down. So basically it's all fucked up. Gear shift thing locks, stutters, ignition is off. Overdrive doesn't work. Etc. So anyone that can tell me what the fuck is going on with it? Since I'm on pimd I'm too lazy to go search it up. So yeah. Pm me plz
You said you had trouble shifting? Could be the shift linkage have slipped. Maybe get the clutch plates checked out.
It was perfectly fine before I took it to Jiffy Lube. No problems. It just didn't accelerate much. The dude said the ignition timer thing was off, that the spark plug wasn't like, sparking enough (it had a small problem when I got it. When I turned it on it would stutter but never turne off. Now it doesn't turn on unless I hit the gas when I turn it on) and he mentioned something about a rotor.
Well if the spark plug isn't sparking right, then they either need to be cleaned or trashed and get new ones.
We bought a new spark plug yesterday at O'Reilly's and the rotor thing. My dad said he'd change them. But I dont think that would fix my gear shift locking when I turn it on or my overdrive doing the exact opposite of what it's supposed to.. Right?
I've had similar problems with the spark plug leads once they're no good the car stutters a lot and you did just change your plugs but overall i have no idea
Nah you're having your main problems in the transmission area. You could have many issues. Bent shift forks, broken gears, not enough tranny oil, too much tranny oil, damaged clutch plates, etc
But you said it stutters, I could be wrong but the actually gears could be damaged. If it was like a hesitation, almost feels like you're in neutral before it shifts, then it could be you have too much tranny oil and it's not disengaging the clutch plates.
