Man is a “political animal.” is a quote from Aristotle, it seems like an extension to Descarte's "I think, therefore I am" which solidly confirms that people are all thinkers by nature. But does that thinking necessarily extend to the politic realm? I often hear people say that they dislike politics, or don't care about politics but I think they usually have very strong political beliefs, but they aren't aware of them. This is dangeous in and of itself, because unwatched and immovable beliefs tend not to be as refined as they ought to be. What are your perspectives on this statement? Do you believe that people can be apolitical, or do you think we are all doomed to have opinions on political issues? (Assume that the "people" in question are raised in a society, not in solitude)
People who claim to have no political opinion are just easy pickings to be taken advantage of and used to further other people's political goals. Sad.
Political issues shape our society and culture. Saying that, I think that there are two different types of politics. You have what is traditional thought of as 'poltical': laws, voting, the government, et cet. These are things everyone certainly has opinions on, and they often are strong opinions rooted in what they believe is best for society. Then you have the 'politics' of it all. The who knew who to get where, who had more money to throw around, who didnt piss everyone off or who smoozed them all, who traded what for whatever advantage, et cet. I think this exasperates many people. It hard to look at the government from afar and understand all of the little moments and catalysts that lead to the final results the public is shown. I think that many people have opinions on the first paragraph, but are held back by however they feel about the second paragraph.
You don't have to have money to become a politician. You have to be good at raising money to get the backing of your political party. (Although, people who are good at raising money typically have money because they understand how money works. Those skills go hand in hand) He who raises the most money for the party gets the backing of their chosen political party, of course. I think it is EASY to look at the government and figure out why things are getting passed or failing and whos getting the nominations on each ticket. It always comes down to one thing. Money. If you follow the trail that the money leaves, you can see a clear picture. Democrats get money from blue haired feminist, unions, and young people. Dems push agendas that their piggy bank wants. Republicans get money from church folk, NRA members, and the elderly. They push the agenda their piggy bank wants. HE WHO RAISES THE MOST MONEY ALWAYS WINS (And right now, the dems are broke af)
I think because man thinks the way he does that to a certain extent everyone will have opinions. Whether they know it or not did you have opinions based off of their personal morals and values and biases. It's hard though because a lot of people want anything to do with politics because of how heated others can get. Idk
Karen.. If Trump turns the economy into half of what Ronald Reagan had during his presidency, then it'll all just blow up again in another 20ish some years for the future of our children.
History always repeats. I agree with you there. But I'm for raising the age to buy a gun, in exchange for raising the voting age to 21 except for military members. Also, drinking age of 18 for military members. I think if we made those changes, we could maybe pull off 30 or 40 years before everything goes to shït again.
Everyone has an opinion about what effects them directly. Think this is the problem with a lot of people and voting or whatever because they have an opinion about what's bettering their situation not the whole. Also, most people don't look that far into the future so have an opinion about what's great for right now but not 10-20 years later. A lot of people can only do what they can to survive day to day and don't have the best resources to makes moves that benefit them years later.
You've just described the Democratic party. Republicans plan for the future, to not be dependent on government assistance forever. People get down on their luck sometimes, and we need to help those people get to better circumstances. This is the Republicans idea of welfare. The Democratic party has a vested interest in keeping people struggling day to day. They cannot vote against the Democratic party because they fear Republicans will cut programs they have become dependent on to survive. These programs are trash though, they are designed to keep people poor and in need of assistance. To secure your vote. They give no fücks about helping people escape the cycle of poverty. How you manage the resources available to you is what separates the poor from the rich. You either make the most of what you have, or you get frustrated and say fück it and become dependent on assistance rather than learn to support yourself.
The struggle is real with your brainwashed way of thinking. If Trump wants to file bankruptcy in the past it's ok? He's only abiding by the laws of America.. But if someone not born with a silver spoon in their mouths do it, it is considered taking advantage of government assistance? Who is the actual political hypocrite here?
I disagree. Not *all* people who claim to have no political opinion, or in this case affiliation, are taken advantage of. Sometimes those people are the wisest and see situations for what they really are and refuse to be baited. Additionally, they also tend to think for themselves rather than follow certain, sometimes unsavory, trends. I've personally met some in my life, and they were pretty cool people.
Trump is a perfect example. Sometimes businesses fail, you fall down on your luck. Did Trump say fück it, move into section 8 housing, and live off food stamps for the rest of his days? Nope. He failed, got some help, picked himself back up and rebuilt his empire. Continuing to contribute to society. That's exactly why we pay taxes, so the government can afford to assist us when we fall down. NOT so the government can take care of us our entire lives.
I doubt that the problem with America is government funded housing and financial assistance. Would you prefer that we keep putting entertaining media figures in the white house, with their idiotic rants and millions and millions of followers? May as well put a Kardashian in there next.. Or just put all of the poverty stricken people of the nation in front of the NRA firing line? The GOP doesn't mind supporting a weapon to decrease their population. The Democrats keep trying to give the ones that want a chance at a better life, a chance to LIVE an American dream.
The American dream isn't a shïtty apartment and a food card. The American dream is an opportunity to own property and to work your way up to any position you desire if you put the work in. I think you're confusing the American Dream with the Communist Dream.
