Lightening hair

  1. hey everyone

so i was born with almost platinum blonde hair, and as i grew older, it changed colors to a kind of light brown. (people tell me it’s a dirty blonde or a mousy brown but i just see it as a light brown)

my hair has some blonde hues at the tips, especially when i’m in the light.

i don’t wanna dye my hair, but i was wondering if applying lemon into your hair if it lightens it to a natural kind of darker blonde. if anyone has done this please let me know. tell me stores if this really works.

  2. i don't know about lemon, but spending a lot of time in the sun also will naturally lighten your hair!

  3. wat. whose idea was it to place lemons in their hair.

edit: o. muschi is right. my sister's hair turned lighter.

  4. I’ve seen countless threads online about using lemon juice to lighten hair but sadly I’ve never seen if they’ve worked or not.

Depending on how long your hair is, maybe cut a test strip out and use it on that? Usually I do that with bleach cause my hair is so dark and I have a huge fear of having my hair turn out orange or something.

Either way, let us know please! I’ve always been curious about this.

  5. I thought this was about hair made out of lightning, like some god or whatever. Disappointed.

    Roleplay likes this.
  6. basically, videos i’ve watched on this all had the same steps -

    1. juice out as many lemons as you want into a bowl
    2. dilute the juice with some water (small amount)
    3. apply in hair
    4. wait a couple hours to absorb
    5. wash it out with shampoo/conditioner and water

then they usually spend time in the sun which naturally lightens it. i’ve trying it myself and am very eager to see if it works.

  7. same. i want lightening hair

  8. idk about lemon juice but peroxide works

  9. Lemons do work to lighten many things!
Sunlight is a faster process for hair, but lemon can definitely help. It can help lighten things like scars (whether it be from acne or a wound, etc.) as well! 

  10. Don't do this. You'll strip the natural oils in your hair thus creating damage over time.

Lemon does work, yes, but you need to spend time in the sun. It's gradual. There is a lemon spray called Sun in that I've tried and had great results with. Make sure that you disclose that information if you ever find yourself in a salon within a few months of trying this. Dying over it can cause problems.

  11. The lemon juice only works if you are in the sun, and it is not a significant amount of lightening but good luck!

  12. This thread hurts me. Please just use light hair bleach. That's what it's for. Lemon is for tea. Don't get them confused. That would be bad.

  13. Try swimming in a pool. I’ve seen swimmers in my school have darker hair and eventually got lighter hair color. They say it’s natural ??‍♂️

  14. If they count the artificial additive of chlorine to the poolwater as natural then sure

  15. You don't need bleach necessarily. There's specific "hair lightener" products at hair supply stores. It's like bleach but less harsh and it only works for ppl whose hair is already fairly light and just want a few shades lighter. Also be aware that if u want it platinum blonde u need to buy toner. If u just lighten/bleach it will turn orange-y

  16. Yeah, I forget that's a thing cause my hair is really dark. Haha. That's better then peroxide.

  17. You can use Sunkiss hair spray and then lay out in the sun or use a blow dryer to naturally lighten ur hair

  18. Yeah I used Sun In for my orange Mohawk way back in the day. It's awesome.

  19. Also if you use the lemons in like a spray bottle, make sure to keep it in the fridge! I use it on my natural brown hair and it defiantly lightned it to a light brown in the summer. Good luck!

  20. Saltwater is also supposed to work!
