Job Advice pls

  1. I'm high key debating about quitting my job because nobody appreciates the hard work I put in, the shifts I cover, nor the extra things I do for people. The other employees recently got into a habit of calling the boss every morning to tell him I don't do anything. He actually just informed of this when he called to harass me with questions about my regular closing routine. He did not believe that I've been doing the things I said I've been doing and constantly harasses me about doing my job. He shouldn't be treating me this way because I HAVE been doing my job.

So I was just wondering if you guys had other experiences like this and what pushed you to quit your old jobs.

Looking for all the help I can get right now. I am going to look into other employments in my area cause I'm losing my mind and respect for my co-workers.

P.S. One of the employees has been out of work for a week because she's "sick" ("I feel fine! But weird so i have to go to the hospital" her exact words) so the morning lady has been working 5 am to 10 pm. I came in on my days off to give her a break and this is the reward I get. ? today is one of those days I'm not suppose to be here and I wish I didn't even bother.

  2. Make sure to find a new one before you quit. Their petty bs isn't worth being unemployed.

  3. Yes I was going to. I'm looking into right now.

  4. Wow I will go get them fired rn

  5. I feel like you have high expectations for jobs. A lot of hard work goes unnoticed and unrewarded. That’s just the nature of the beast. But work for the right people and one day it’ll pay off.
These clearly aren’t the right people. I feel like it’s not even a question about if you should quit. If you’re being bullied or whatever, why would you even consider staying...?

  6. I made this mistake and was unemployed for 5 months :/

  7. pimd ain't the place to be asking for job advice sis

  8. Call corporate regarding the harrassment. Most jobs nowadays require some sort of data storage on computers, if your work gets recorded then they can easily check you're doing the work you say you are and maybe fire your boss. Or just get some proof (like video) of the harrassment/how they treat you and make a fb post and tag some media outlets lol

  9. If you update your resume, start applying for new positions, and schedule interviews on your days off...you'll be much happier at work. You'll find yourself with this fun smirk on your face a lot. Knowing you're on your way out the door when no one else does feels good.

  10. Excellent point^

You have to be careful when you pick up others slack at work, because it's rarely rewarded. If you do so, make sure it's more for yourself because you want to be proud of your job. It's easy to get taken advantage of when you're a hard worker and willing to do what's needed. When you work for the right kind of company, the people at the top notice these things and it can help you move up. When you're not, you leave your job feeling drained and like you can never work hard enough. If I were you, I'd be job hunting, and it sounds like you were already on your way to that conclusion. I wish you the best of luck!

  11. I think you should stick it out until you find a job that pays more money.

  12. If you aren't happy where you are, definitely take Julie's advice and look elsewhere. Your job is where you spend a lot of time and you have to at least be satisfied with it. Adulthood means doing a lot of things you may not enjoy so it's not like you are likely to LOVE your job but fundamental issues of happiness like you seem to be experiencing are not good. Find somewhere that makes you feel fulfilled and valued. :)

In regards to your main question, I do think most of us have been there. A lot of employers do not value their hardest workers and get complacent with them having such a good work ethic instead of appreciating it.

  13. Dude same but I was still in school so that made me feel a little better

  14. The thing with job is that it goes beyond just hard work. A lot of ass kissing goes around to be in the boss's good books, and the bosses are dumb enough to get carried away. Thats one of the reasons why i quit my jobs, besides i dont like having a boss or i dont like being dependent on my boss's permission if i wanna go on a vacation, etc.

Anyway, when youre working for small businesses, which i presume you are from the problems u stated, you gotta work smart. Dont work hard, take advantage of your colleagues' weaknesses, come up with ideas to improve the business (increase revenue) and discuss them with your boss regularly (nothing else makes a boss happier), if your colleagues are thankless stop helping them, rather use them. You gotta be cunning.

  15. And like i tell everyone, save whatever money you can and invest it. Use your free time to research on various investment options. Maybe start a Systematic investment plan or something if you dont really wanna research. Never keep your money idle, cuz you gotta beat the inflation. Once you have built a good corpus for yourself, you wouldnt have to be bothered by scenarios where youre compelled to work in unfavourable conditions until u find another job

  16. Thanks to everybody to have me decent advice. I already looked into a few jobs and I have two picked out- I'm going to see about going in for interviews soon.

I just want to clarify- I did not have high expectations for my job. The boss has unrealist expressions of his employees because of 1 who LIKES to do a lot of extra stuff for all 3 stores while I only have access to one. I have no way to compare or compete with that.

  17. And I still for good advice from everybody but you? Hmm, seems like you're wrong SIS. Please keep your negativity in GC.

  18. I had just finished school
