Immortally Beautiful

Sitting in this dark room, I know what beauty has done to me. It is a curse, yet a blessing. Beauty had got me nothing but this so called "gift" my mother had given me when i was a small girl. The gift to live forever, for my beauty to last. Maybe in France they called me La floraison rose à jamais. But i only wanted to think one word. A spanish one a friend taught me long ago. Morte .

I walk up and down the hallways of this mundane high school I pretented to attend. Honestly, I could teach a class or two myself. This teacher's knowlodge was impossibly basic compared to what I had learned over the last century. I knew everything they had to offer. Science, Mathematics, Geography, You name it. I had already knew. I spotted the janitor. He stared at me as if he didn't know weather to report me because of not being in class or determine if I was older than 18. It disgusted me on how he looked at me. Like the way all people looked at me.
"Aren't you suppose to be in class?", He asked, walking toward me.
"Aren't you suppose to be working and not wondering what I'm doing?", I countered
He shurgged and walked in the other direction. What an idiot! , I thought. I walked to the door of the school without a thought. I was completely done with keeping with keeping up with this stupid routine. Decade after decade of my perfect facade. I hadnt had a life of my own in so long. A life where i was free to do what I wanted. Free to be me.

I stepped out into the school yard. Looking to my left, I noticed a boy about the age I pretended to be. He was taller than me with brown, short hair and from the where i was standing, it seemed as if he had blue eyes. I walked towards him, curious about what he was doing with the cards in his hands. The cards seemed to float around him as if they had a mind of there own. It made me even more curious.
"How are you doing that?", I asked the boy.
"Magic. How else?", He said, laughing
I wasn't a idiot and knew better on when magicians used their so called "magic".
"Look. I know all the tricks in the book. Which one is it? I mean, you're not really using magic.", I said, doubtful. Actually i didnt know if he was or not. Maybe he possesed a power of some sort. If he was really magic, I had to know.
"Maybe it is real magic", He said, grinning.
At that point, I was so curious i knew it would kill me if that was possible. I resorted to my last option. I asked him and now since he wouldnt tell me, I would read his mind. I hated doing that but I used it when i needed it. Another "gift". I focused on his mind. Things where running through it, such as what he was gonna eat for lunch. I searched until i found what i was looking for.
"So you are magic?", I asked.
He froze. "How'd you know?", He asked, so confused his words came out slow.
"My resources, i guess.", I said, grinning and tapping my temple.
"You didnt!", He said, unbeliving.
"I did!", I said, laughing.
Since i had found my answer, I walked away from him. But for some strange reason, He followed.
"Tell me how you know!", He shouted. I just laughed until i felt him grab my shoulder. I turned around, glaring.
"Let....Go....Of....Me!", I shouted, yanking away from him.
"What's your name and how did you read my mind?", He demanded. I sighed.
"My name is Aurora and i kinda have powers like you.", I said.
"What type of powers?", He asked.
"Mind reading and immortity", I said, getting bored with this whole conversation.
"Hmm...ok. My name is Ekaf.", He said. My eyebrowns rose.
"Interesting name.", I commented.
"Thanks", He said, grinning.
And for some reason, I grinned back.

Bumpish 

 

As long as a was going to trust this strange boy, I might as well tell him what I'm looking for.
"Do you think you could help me with something?", I asked suddenly.
"Umm...it depends", He said, nervous now.
"I need you to help me find someone to take away my immortality", I explained.
"I'm sure I could help", He said.
I continuted to talk, explaining how i became who i was until I bumped into someone.
"Hey! Watch it!", I complained.
"Look! You're the one who bumped into me!", The girl said, glaring.
I looked at this girl. She had pale cheeks and freckles spotted across her face. The girl also had blonde hair and blue eyes. She looked directly back at me.
I didn't usually do this but i decided i needed to.
"Hey look. I'm sorry for bumping into you. I should have been paying attention.", I said. Its not like i wanted to apoligze, it just came right out. Like water from a waterfall. Its like i couldnt help it.
"S'okay. I'm Halley", She said, holding her hand out. "And this is my friend Emily." She gestured toward the girl behind her. She was a blonde too. Usually, i wasnt very fond of blondes with blue eyes. I was a red head with green-brown eyes. But this girls, standing together, felt like lonh lost friends somehow.
Emily nodded at my backpack
"Are you travling?", She asked.
"Yeah we are.", Ekaf asked. "Why?"
"Just asking. By the way, who are you two?", she asked.
"I'm Aurora and this is Efak.", I said
They nodded.
"So if you're travling...you guys wouldnt mind us coming along?", Halley asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Sure.", I said, at the same time Efak said no.
Emily and Halley high-fived each other. I only smiled and shook my head. These girls were excited and they didnt even know where they're going. We all walked together until Halley asked the question i had been waiting for.
"So...um...where are we going?", she asked.
That's the thing. I didn't know. I didn't even know where to begin. Or even what or who i was looking for. I decided I should tell Emily and Halley about me and our whole purpose of this mission. They kept calm throughout the whole time.
"Ya know....i know a little about the gift you were given.", Emily said. "I studied it for awhile."
I was completely shocked.
"Tell me what you know!", I said, my voice eager. I relized i hadnt been this way in a long time. It made me feel...somewhat warm inside. I couldnt believe i was saying this but....i liked the feeling.

For the next few days, We did nothing but plan. Emily taught me about how to get rid of my immortality. She said all i had to do was transfer it into another person who was willing to take it. It was said that there was a old woman who would take any immortality but i had to scarifice a mortal. I didn't think i could bear to take away anyone's life. We planned to leave tommorrow to see if we could even find the old woman. She was said to be living in the deepest parts of the Amazon. I wasnt afraid, I only worried about my new found friends. I wouldnt let them suffer on my account. When i asked them if they were ready to go on this mission, they're responses were all different, but the same.
"Look. Didn't I already agree I was coming?", Halley said. "I'm not gonna back out now, just because we have a challenge."
Efak was as hopeful as Halley.
"Of course I'm coming. People like us gotta stay together, right?", He had said.
Even though Emily was hesitant at first, she came around.
"You guys need my knowledge. How could i not come?"
We all agreed this was dangerous, but it was important to me, so it was important to them.


We were at the airport when i saw her.
"Viv!!!", I squeled with excitement. Vivienne Mahoney had been my best friend since forever. She also had my "gift".
"Aurora!", She exclaimed, hugging me. "Where the hell have you been?"
"Busy. I'm trying to find anyway to get the curse...away.", I said, looking down.
"Ahhh. I see.", She said. "I've been trying for years."
We were both silent until I noticed vivi looking behind me. Her expression, bewildered.
"Who.....are...they??", She asked
"Friends of mine. This is Emily, Halley and Ekaf.", I explained, pointing at them as i said they're name.
"Oh. I see.", She said. "So where are you guys heading?"
"South America.", I replied.
Vivi's mouth popped open.
"ME TOO!!!!", She squeled.
We laughed our heads off. Our little crew of 4 became 5.
