  2. They are used when you battle and there is also defense types for when you are attacked

  3. Pots/ items.

    Defense items are automatically used when someone hits you. There is nothing you are required to do.

    Offensive items are used when you are the one to hit someone else. If you select fight, it will bring up a screen for the items compatible with fight, you can pick what ones you want to use. Likewise for dance option.
