Severus Snape walked around his potions classroom. He was making sure that THIS time no one was cheating! At the corner of his eye he saw Hermione Granger, his best student (though he would never admit it). When she looked up he immeadiatly turned away. He felt his face grow hot and he quickly excused himself from the class. "Professor?" came a voice a few minutes later. Severus was in shock that someone had found him (he was standing right out the doors haha) He looked to see Miss Granger standing there, a confused look on her face. "Um... Professor? Are you alright?" "Yes! I am vey bloody well fine!" he said not looking at her. "Alright... I'm done the test..." she said quietly. He felt his heart drop. Her voice sounded confused and hurt. He then thought he shouldn't have been so harsh on the girl. "Sorry... Very well," he said taking her script. "You are free to leave Miss Granger." "But Professor..." her face flushed a deep red. She stopped herself and smiled at him. "Thank you Professor!" He couldn't help but smile back... but he then instantly went back to his moody self and glared at her. "Well? Are you leaving?!" he demanded. "Yes Professor!" her voice chimed and she quickly organized her things and left his classroom. Severus watched her leave... his heart pounding in his chest. Whaj was he feeling for this girl...?
Hermione flopped onto The couch in the Gryffindor common room. She was suprised... Snape NEVER said sorry!! She sighed. What was she supposed to do now... Her teachers never let students out early... especially not and HOUR early! She looked at her books. No. She didn't feel like reading or doing homework at this moment. Just then Fred and George Weasley barged through the common room doors scaring Hermione. She quickly stood up and faced them. "Oh 'Mione! What are you doing? Skipping class like us?" asked Fred. She rolled her eyes. "Yeah right! No Professor Snape let me leave class early today because..." actually she had no idea why he let her leave. "Because...?" asked George. She scoffed "Well I don't know he just did okay?" "Thats weird... Snape never let's students leave early! If anything he keeps them late!" Fred said to George. "I wonder why 'Mione was any different..." said George. "Anyways!!" Hermione interjected "Which class are you two supposed to be in?" "Transfiguration! Professor McGonagall definitely makes that class bloody boring I say!" said Fred smirking. "I agree," said George and they both left Hermione and left the common room. "Sheesh! And goodbye to you too!" she scoffed. She looked at her potions textbook. Her face turned anxious. Why did Snape let her go early... And why did he say "sorry" he had never been so nice to a student before! It made her wonder about Snapes feelings and hers...

Severus sighed. His class was going to start in 10 minutes and he was barely ready. He heard a knock on the door. Who was bothering him now? He was suprised to see Hermione Granger standing outside his door. "P...Professor." "Miss Granger?" he asked suprised. "Why are you here? Class isn't for another 10 minutes." She blushed. "Yes I know that... I just came here to ask you something." "Well?" "I was wondering... Why... why did you let me get out of class early?! You never allow your students to leave early so why me?!" she blurted out. He blinked. Bloody hell! Did she come all the way here just to ask him that? "Professor?" "Was what I did wrong?" Her face went a deep shade of red. She didn't expect his answer to be so blunt. "N...no." "Good, now please come back at the appropriate time I need to prepare for today's lesson," he said closing the door. In class Hermione did not lift her head, after her encounter with Snape this morning had embarrassed her. "'Mione? You okay?" whispered Harry, who was her partner. "Oh! Yes... I'm fine," she whispered back. She could tell he wasn't satisfied so she smiled at him. When she turned she saw Snape looking at her. She quickly looked down at the table her face flushed. "Miss Granger, please stay a moment," Snape said after class. Hermione told Ron and Harry she'd meet them later. She turned and walked towards her teacher who was sitting behind his desk watching her. Her heart was pounding inside her chest as she walked over to the older man...
"Professor? You wanted to see me?" asked Hermione as she stood in front of his desk. He raised an eyebrow. "Miss Granger are you alright?" he asked This suprised Hermione. Was he worried about her or... She didn't know what he was trying to say. "Miss Granger?" "Um... I'm fine, no need to worry..." she caught herself before she said anything else. "Worry? I'm not worried." "Oh... um... then why did you ask?" she was confused. "Because you're not paying attention in my class and I don't want you failing. I want to know what's bothering you so I can help you and get you to pay attention because Im not going to repeat my lessons to someone who doesn't deserve it." "Oh. I'm sorry," she said quietly. His words hit her hard. Was she really a pain to him... And annoyance? Yes most definitely. "So what's wrong?!" he demanded. "Nothing! I was... I was just tired!" he said not making eye contact. "Youre lying, there's obviously something wrong and you're just not telling me!" "I'm not lying!! I really am tired!" "STOP LYING TO ME HERMIONE!!!" he shouted at her standing up. His face was red in both anger and embarassment. Hermione stepped back. "Why... why do you care so much?" she asked. "Seriously Snape!! Just stop playing with my feelings!!" she yelled and she ran towards the exit. Just then she felt her arm being grabbed. Snape had taken her wrists and pinned her against the door. "What do you mean 'I'm playing with your feelings?" he asked his face inches from hers. "P... Professor..." Before he knew what was happening his face was inching towards towards hers, his heart racing. As well as hers.
