There is such a large gap between the misc cap ATA has provided us and the average misc collected during the time it takes to reach whatever given base stat. I believe that this one of the reasons contributing to 'black market trading', or the unsanctioned off app monetary exchanges between players for items. All furniture has stats, and at the moment, only equipped furniture contributes to your overall stats when performing pvp actions. What if all furniture counted towards your misc cap? my thoughts: The percentage bonus could remain in effect on only equipped pieces. This could encourage further trade in the market, further incentivize furniture hoarders, I mean collectors, and make misc caps more accessible- which allows players to remain more competitive within their buckets without feeling pressured to increase their stats for pvp. I do not believe that this would have a negative impact on ATA's profits, a fact that the business will consider. I believe that players will continue to pursue increased stats. There are other mechanisms at play than base stats and misc in pvp, and players would also continue to be incentived by hunt drops and leaderboards to grow. Furthermore, this would make opening boxes more attractive. Unfortunately, this could lead to the feeling that stats are simply able to be purchased. I have noticed that stats for purchase are becoming more and more common, albeit for a limited time at the moment, but perhaps ATA is moving in that direction anyway. A way ATA could potentially avoid this is by either removing stats from the non upgradable furniture, either from just future releases (which could have an interesting impact on the market) or from all of them. A step further would be to remove the stats from all common furniture. A third potential solution could be to create a separate furniture max cap; although this would require the most investment from PIMDs teams, and is the least likely outcome imo. I'll take a moment to briefly acknowledge farming culture and those vulnerable/gullible enough to pay a cf by leaving the reminder that furniture is protected under TOS guidelines against extortion, as it has ec value. Overall, furniture has become a large part of PIMD, one I myself have particularly enjoyed. It is a way for players to freely express themselves and to further enjoy the beautiful art. The Rate My Room ec has gone far in encouraging collectors, but giving these items increased value beyond aesthetics would further entice a larger portion of the player base. TL;DR- Furniture should count towards misc cap. ATA would probably make money, players have more stats, everyone happy. What do you think? ps. sell me your wine misc π€
However i would like this idea, i also think that would affect dorm upgrading in such a bad way. It would be impossible to find recycle furniture, or the prices would go crazy on them. Its hard enough to ug them. π₯²
It is kind of misleading. At face value in your showcase, it does look like furni counts as misc. I did an experiment and took ss before buying new furni recently before making this thread to make sure actually, haha. The raw stats are not worth more than what players are currently paying for recycle furni. Posters, wps, etc at 75k are being sold for 3-5c, while stats at 125k at 1-2c; on the high end, 499s are 200kcs being sold at recycle prices for 3π± and 999s are 4mcs for 9-10π±. I typically buy raw stats anywhere from 2.5-3mcs per π± bulk. I think any effects on recycle furniture prices would be negligible.
I am staunchly against this. A.T.A should drastically reduce the cap and nerf the items they release. TB should be more rewarding/attainable than MB since it's less secure.
On one hand you've asked that furniture be counted towards misc cap and in the next paragraph you've advocated the removal of stats from all common furniture. Inconsistent. Furniture prices when compared with the misc stats they provide is already inflated when compared with normal stat items. If unequipped furniture is counted towards misc cap, the prices for furniture items will only rise since now they offer an added advantage. I also don't see how it will reduce black market trading. I only see another set of items being bought off game for misc. The idea needs a little bit of work to be implementable imo.
I didn't say all furni; removing stats from common would leave rare and above with stats. I wouldn't say advocate; I'd say offered solutions to potential concerns that may be raised. I think of black market trading being a problem because of this gap in misc cap. If there were no gap, I feel like the pressure to buy stats for this purpose would lessen. I am admittedly an optimist. Definitely would need work, but that's what we're paying our favorite developers for.π I'm just here to get ideas thrown around and start discussions.
It hasn't been something I really thought about before. I think it makes sense currently as implemented with only equipped furniture being counted towards your bonuses. In regards to furniture adjustments, one of the best arguments I've heard thus far is to increase max levelling from 20 to 30 (or even just 25). My biggest caveat with your suggestions would be that it would absolutely inflate the already unobtainably larger-than-life accounts on leaderboard further. However I'm sure there's some adjustments that could be made to your idea that would mitiate just how big that jump would be. At this point I think increased growth for the biggest of the big players is inevitable because it brings ATA a profit. Personally I would love for the furniture to stop having a cartoonish look and get back some of the art styles from like 2019 and prior. The way the furni is shaded/highlighted nowadays looks very odd to me. I recycle or sell all of it, even if I like the concept of the item itself.
Yes, I would agree that almost any move ATA chooses to make moving forward would inevitably inflate those accounts more. There are after all, the largest supporters of the business. I think the only lbs this would really impact are the xc spotlight and potential future pvp hunts (always hopeful for a new one π), but those dynamics are already so vastly skewed in those players favors... The Spotlight could really use some tinkering anyway if they expect more players to actually be motivated to participate. I don't hate the changes in furni styling. I like that they are trying new things, but I do wish that they would design them in such a way that more dorms could be mixed for further creativity. Maybe a couple of color palettes they release a set of annually? I did find this recently about the pimd style overhaul. It's not directly about furni's new style, but it's interesting.
I did find that a few years ago (I think around 2019 or 2020?)! Chloe Chan is also behind the "new" party backgrounds which I actually like the design of which appears on the next page of that link. (As well as those horrendous party UI changes that thankfully fell through!) From what I can tell, Chloe's art contributions to the game are things I do like and this more cartoonish stylization happened afterwards (or at least isn't directly her). I will say that the current look is definitely consistent in furniture, and consistency is something to be appreciated even if I don't necessarily like the specific art style. And the furni is the only things I have an issue with; generally I like the look of majority of the avatars and stat items. Although it may be because furniture is more mixed and matched where you can see it stand out more with older styles whereas you can only have one avatar equipped at a time etc.
I like this idea, but someone who has a better understanding of how different bonuses affect pvp would have to crunch the numbers. Even a 125kcs stat bonus to all furniture in showcase with a cap added would make me feel a lot better about my furni hoard I've started for the rate my dorm xc, but I think pvp has other mechanics that's need revamping first, like the hit ranges. I'm 171mcs, I shouldn't be able to hit 30mcs accounts π I think having different furni items have different stat bonus (when unequipped) as others have said would really mess up the trade market. Everything would cost more and become less affordable, and I see this negatively impacting the newer players the most. I would like to see leveled dorms have more of an effect on pvp. Maybe having an equipped dorm count towards the misc cap and not entirely in its seperate category would help this? Again, I haven't crunched the numbers to flesh out this idea.
Found misc stats effect it to coz a mate had just sold a bunch of stats and had a massive drop in cash per hit and final payout. That was the ONLY difference that was made. Before then i didnt think they counted either
