For all thirsty guys out there

  1. If you knew where the hórniest women in the country lived, how quickly would you move there?

In the new book Dataclysm, OKCupid founder Christian Rudder uses data gleaned from what people say and do on dating sites to uncover that fact, along with more statistics about relationships than you ever thought existed. Read on for the most fascinating findings.

Pack your bags and head to Montana. People in the north central and western parts of the U.S. value sex more than the rest of the country, Rudder found.

The finding is based on OKCupid users' answers to the question: What's more important, sex or love?

Folks in Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Vermont, and Wyoming were the most interested in getting it on. The most lovey-dovey states: New Hampshire and Ohio. Overall, the population seems to get hornier as you go west.

That pattern pops up frequently in OKCupid data, Rudder says. The west and north central regions—stereotypically conservative states—appear to be more sexually open.

So is it something in that Rocky Mountain water?

Nope, Rudder says—it's probably a bias in the data that comes from polling people who use dating sites. It's not that those regions are actually hornier, but rather, the horny inhabitants have to go online to find what they're looking for. "If you're into kink and you live in Sioux City, the scene isn't very big there," he says. (Want to know if she’s aroused? Here are 5 things that secretly make her horny .)

Chicks dig older men, right? Only until their 29th birthday, according to Rudder's findings. He compared the average woman's age with the age of men she finds most attractive. In their 30s, ladies want to date guys about their same age, but when they hit their 40s, they prefer to go younger.

In fact, it’s only after women turn 49 when they start being attracted to men over 40.

You might not need an infographic to tell you that guys are attracted to young women. But this scatterplot sure puts that fact in a stark light.

Men—from age 20 right on up to age 50—want 20-year-olds.

However, the data comes from who a man finds most attractive during the online dating process. In reality, Rudder found that when guys were asked the ages of women they preferred to date, they claimed they wanted someone about their own age.

The most stunning women on OKCupid—and other dating sites—receive exponentially more messages than everyone else, Rudder finds. Use this fact to your advantage.

If Rudder, who probably knows more about online dating than anyone else in the world, could leave you with one piece of advice, it's this: Don't be so picky.

"Men often only message women who are really beautiful," he says. "So what happens is they're all messaging the same woman." Which means your chances of scoring a supermodel are close to zero.

Plus, so much of dating online is based solely on a profile photo (which can be deceiving, anyway). In the real world, plenty of other factors make a woman attractive, like a killer sense of humor. You'll miss out on sexy women—who would actually respond to your message—if you're not flexible about who you talk to online, he says.
