  1. FOOD REVIEW: Salsa
    - Episode Five -

¡Hola, amigos! Dance has never been the love of my life. As much as I try my hardest, I think I might have been born with two left feet. However, the food of the same name and descend is one that has captivated my heart in the past, still enthralls me in the present, and definitely will gratify me in the future to come!

Salsa is a delicacy that stems from Latin-America. It is a standard and almost necessary accompaniment to most Mexican cuisines. One spoonful of this ambrosia brings about a fresh burst of sweet and tart flavors that makes you go "More! Ooh! More!". Salsa comes in both the wet and dry alternatives. In this review, I am presenting to you the wet version. It can be easily made into the dry one simply by mixing all the raw ingredients and let it sit approximately an hour for all the flavors to combine.

What is salsa without tomatoes? And I mean lots and lots of red juicy tomatoes! Chop them into cubes and throw them into a pan with minimal virgin olive oil. Add just a pinch of salt to catalyze the breakdown process. Once the tomatoes turn mushy, continue to stir on low heat to avoid caramelization. Then add in cubed capsicum or chili peppers (I recommend the green and/or the yellow varieties to complement the crimson tomatoes) and diced red onions. Next, cut up some chili padi (bird's eye chili) and jalapeño peppers and pop them into the simmering concoction. Now for my special ingredient most salsa does not have! Pluck some basil leaves and allow its fresh aroma to penetrate into the mix! Roughly chop up some fresh cilantro too! to complete the salsa, add in some freshly squeezed lime juice for that extra bit of zing!

If at any point of time the salsa has become too dry, add in some water. I do not recommend this though, as it will make the salsa a little blander as usual. To remedy this problem, remember to add more tomatoes at the beginning!

Now, enjoy your delicious, mouth-watering homemade salsa! Perhaps savor it as a dip with some baked tortilla chips! For an extra bit of crunch, chop up some raw onions, capsicums and tomatoes and add them to your salsa when it has cooled considerably!

    Bon appetit! =)

    Yours Truly,
