Chapter one: Discovery "Follow me... follow closely...," the voices were gentle and bounced off the walls of the castle with a dreamlike quality. I look up from my chain-bound wrists down the hall. Nothing. Just stones dripping with a thick, red liquid that the guards never cleaned off from last night. "Hurry, Alex, we must move quickly," the voices hum my name softly. I want to answer, I need to answer, but my throat is sealed shut with fear. I move slowly, my knees bending awkwardly under my weight. Chains jingle as I slip and fall across the hay and blood strewn floor. I grip the iron of the cell bars with my clammy hands and peer out. A dim light seems to be flashing and arching it's way toward me. My eyes blink rapidly and I let out a yelp, the light bursts open in my face. I tumble back into the soppy floor, expecting to crack my head in concrete. Instead, I fall back onto one of those pillows you only dream about. Fluffy, light, airy, feels like whipped cream under your head. ---
