Hey there losers, noobs pros, pretty people and not pretty people. I don't have much to do at the moment so I thought I'd make this thread. I used to have a mate who complained about people's views on straight white men basically. He'd say that if a woman were to say "I'm proud to be a woman." then she would get respect and a pat on the back, but if a man were to say "I'm proud to be a man." people would say it's sexism or not cool. He says if a black man were to say "I'm proud to be black." he would also get respect and a pay on the back. But if a man were to say "I'm proud to be white." then it would be racism. If a man were to say "Hey, I'm proud to be gay." and another said "I'm proud to be straight." the first man would be praised while the second would be said to be discriminatory. At first I thought that was just hypocritism. These groups can get a lot of flak, so they take the racism, sexism etc to us straight white men. Trying to find someone to blame, right? Maybe, but they may have reason. This is my opinion, because I'm good at seeing other peoples points of views. Women had to stand up and say something to get their rights. They had to shout to be heard. Blacks, African-Americans for example, also had to fight for their rights. Gays are still fighting for their rights. And not only do they not have them, but they cop flak from arse holes that can't see anything but their own feelings and wants. Some don't even show their feelings towards their partner because they're afraid they'll be called out. And the reason for what my mate was saying would probably be that white men never had to fight. We always had rights. In fact, we MADE the rights. In certain times we looked down on others. We also, in the end, determine if civil rights battles are going to win or lose. Others might see us as just those that get whatever they want simply because they want it. Like rich kids. That's what I think. What are your thoughts? Try not to be mean, just be direct.
A lot of that is very true. People should be allowed to be proud of who and what they are without others playing the racist/sexist card. If a guy is proud to be a man then good on him and if someone is proud to be white then more power to them. Having pride doesn't mean you think you are better then others, just means you are happy with who you are.
You've dun goofed friend, you've opened the flood gates for the tumblr fueled, proud and opinionated social justice warriors, if any are lurking here, I wish you good luck, because it won't be a pretty sight. Gl brave comrade
Sure you've always had rights but why should that mean you can't be proud of who you are? People fight for equality so that should mean that a white or black man can say they are proud without being judged.
Unfortunately that's not the case, for we live in a world where people feel necessary to condemn others for trivial and irrelevant things, such as a white person wearing dreadlocks, or even simply being a "white cis male", or in other words, straight, for we are instantaneously oppressing, regardless of what we are truly doing, which is completely ridiculous.
In my opinion racism is completely fucking dumb. It doesn't matter what colour a persons skin is and you shouldn't be judged by your skin colour because of what some spastic mother fucker did thousands of years ago. The problem is people are still racist to this day, they may smile and pretend like we're all equal, but DEEP DOWN they're a bunch of racist dirt bags. Same goes with womens rights, who the fuck is anyone to take away their rights? Your mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, they're all WOMEN, so fuck those people from 1500 years ago who were so ignorant and dumb that they were even debating that women aren't even human. [Not making this up, it's history] Anyway, racism plays no real role in judging a person. One day we will all day and we will be judged by our actions. Not by our skin colour or gender. That's my 3 cents Peace out.
There'll always be bland somewhere. I for one couldn't care less what a person is. I care more about whether or not THEY are happy with it. I'll be mates with anyone so long as they're nice.

Yes racism is stupid, so is sexism, my point was that if a black person can say they are proud to be black then why cant a white person say it? There will always be people who can't just accept others for who/what they are, in the end thats their loss, they miss out on meeting some amazing people and experiencing all different kinds of cultures. Let them live that way, rather them then me.
