Chapter 2-2012 I followed Jade through the woods. We had been here before.. Too many times before. This was our place. Or at least we would like to think it was. I got excited every time we headed here. It seemed to always be snow. It was a vibrancy. It was beautiful. The lake, the trees, the hill. In all of it's insignificance it had all the time in the world. It was just it. What everybody needed. Jade and I had discovered this 6 years ago, today. At first it didn't have such a meaning as it does, but it grew on us. When we were 10 we used to come down to the lake and play pirates. Jade, being the strong hero, I being the cranked pirate. Jade was a lot taller and stronger than I. She was smarter then me. Had a perfect everything. Jade was like the lake. Beautiful. I was in love with her. "Excited, much?" She laughed, sarcastically. She could tell I was giddy. How was she not? I grinned. "Definitely." "Only 6 years ago we discovered this place. I have a plan for today and I already can tell in your eyes that you will love it." "Oooh. I wonder what it is." I smirked. "And before you start criticizing the plan, here's a hint. It's better then any money could buy." I had known Jade came here alone sometimes. In fact every day. She came straight after school until her parents got home from work. I didn't come with her often. I knew she just came to be alone. Take everything in and think. 2 years ago when I was away at Camp, she called me and told me she had found something great. When I got home there was nothing. Today I would find out what this something was. "Happy Birthday again Danny." She smiled looking straight at me. "Thanks." She laughed. I loved her laugh. "This counts as some of your present. The other part you'll get with cake." As we arrived to the steep hill, I felt a chill. What was she going to show me? I had to find out. Soon enough I suppose. After 2 slips and a fall in muck, we made it to the top of the small but steep hill. To the top. The place which was so familiar. The deck we were on was made by ourselves. Of garbage bags and scrap wood. After our first year of coming here we started to build stairs and a walk. Stairs made of random rocks. Everything we made lead us straight to the lake. The air here was calm. The sun shone down on us, with the wind in the background a sudden chill washed over me. Jade trotted into the water. Wearing short gym shorts. The water splashed around her. It was clean water. A small body of water. Sparkly water. I took of my shoes and ran in a foot and a half behind her. Deep, almost to our knees, she dug her hands in the water and started uncovering sand. "Get down and help me." "Okay." I bent down and started uncovering sand. A piece of wood sticking out hit my hand. "Frig." I said. "You found it." "Found what?" "It." "What is it?"I tried to pull out the wood. "Not sure." "How do you know about it?" "Two summers ago. I have more of it out of the water. It has wheels. That much I DO know." "How big do you think?" "I think it's something like a motorhome but totally 18th century kind of thing. Know what I mean?"
