    Part 1: The Arrival.

"This is stupid. Geez, mum, I'm not three. I don't want to stay in tents and shit with a bunch of small people!"

The woman sat in the drivers seat looked relatively calm, unlike the angry 13-year old girl sat beside her. Clicking her tongue impatiently, her green eyes flickered from the road to her daughter.

"Look, most kids would be excited to go to Summer Camp. Also, like I've told you many times, they're called children and the camp is 12 and up. Also, not surprisingly I've already told you though too, you'll be staying in cabins." After finishing the mother rolled her eyes, gaze back onto the road.

The girl sighed, but she knew it would be pointless to argue. Her mother was as argumentative as herself and she didn't want to leave on an argument. Instead, she sighed once again, louder as to empathise her point, before resting her forehead against the cool glass window.

She didn't want to go, but her mother was going to visit her Aunt in America who'd been ill for a while and there would be no room for her. She understood, but now the time had come to go she wasn't exactly enthusiastic.

"Hey, cheer up Mae. I got you a few things for whilst you're there, but you'll find out out what they are when you get there," Liz, the mother, said to her daughter with a small smile before adding on, "they have free wifi there too."

Mae's lips quirked up into a slight smile which she hid; her face still facing the window.

After another hour passed the car pulled into a driveway type of road. Mae raised her eyebrows, gazing out of the window. They hadn't driven past a house, or even a building, for miles and all the girl could see were great, towering and dark trees. "Er mum, are you sure this is the right way?"

Her mother looked slightly uncertain, but she nodded after looking at the sheet of paper propped beside the steering wheel. "Yep, this is the right way."

Mae frowned but nodded, leaning back in her leather seat and glancing at the time on the car's clock. It was 9 pm, but outside looked darker. Probably because of the trees, Mae decided.

She yawned before pulling her hoodie down slightly. She felt slightly self-conscious of her clothes, but who wears something nice for a 3 hour car journey anyway?

After a few minutes her mother announced excitedly, "we're here!" Mae looked out, and sure enough there was a sign saying 'Welcome to Camp! Enjoy your stay! (New campers please head to the main office).'

The car soon parked, Mae sighed for the hundredth time that day before reluctantly opening her car door.

"Okay, so, I'll see you in 3 weeks."

They'd arrived at the main office, which was a small wooden hut. Beyond that lay a few rows of cabins, but Mae had only caught a glimpse of them.

After talking to the lady in the office who assured here everything would be okay, Liz had signed the paperwork before turning to Mae. "Alright M. Have fun and don't get into too much trouble."

Mae nodded, swallowing. She felt a sudden wave of sadness for a moment but she brushed it off with a weak smile. "Okay, erm, yeah. Tell Auntie I said 'hi'. What time's your flight at?"

"It's in a few hours, but there's an airport pretty near here," Mae's mother replied, tucking a strand of blonde hair behind her ear before ruffling Mae's own long auburn hair. "I better go. Call if you need me, and don't forget to call me every day from the camps' phones. Have fun!" She pulled Mae into a tight embrace, who for once didn't protest, before walking to the exit and disappearing out into the darkness.

After her mother left, Mae remained standing awkwardly with the lady that worked there.

"This is your first stay here, right?" The lady asked, her voice delicate and faint.

"Um, yeah," Mae answered with a nod.

"I'll show you to your cabin and give you a schedule then." The woman flashed Mae a smile, but it looked slightly distorted on the woman, and Mae couldn't help but feel on edge. The womans' eyes were narrow and cold as they watched her. Scrutinising her, as if she were prey.

Mae rolled her eyes at herself. She was being paranoid for no reason; the woman was probably just trying to figure out what Mae would be like.

Stifling a yawn, the girl followed the woman as she glided out of the hut.

She wasn't sure if she had imagined this the next day, but she could have sworn there was something silver glistening behind the woman's concealed hands.

It had to be a dream though, I mean, why would she have a knife?

    Part 2: Meet The Campers.

The next morning when Mae woke up, her lights were on and there were a set of clean clothes hanging across the bottom of her bed.

The girl groaned, hiding her face behind her thin duvet. "Too early," she mumbled. A minute passed as she began to remember yesterday and realise where she was.

Last night the lady from the office took her to her cabin and said her clothes would be sent over shortly. Then she'd unpacked a little before crashing out on her bed.

Mae wrinkled her nose as she remembered. No way was she going to wear 'Camper clothes'.

Sighing, she reluctantly sat up. Raking a hand through her long auburn hair, she slipped out of bed and walked to the mirror.

Should she do anything with her appearance? Her skin was lightly tanned, but it had a slightly greasy look. She had small bags under her eyes, and her long hair was sticking up all over the place.

Mae sighed, looking around for a brush. After a few minutes of searching with her eyes she assumed it must be packed still. "Oh well, I'll get it later," she said to herself.

Despite what she had thought earlier, Mae then walked over to her bed and slowly pulled on her clothes which had been set out.

A beige pair of trousers followed by a beige coloured T-shirt saying 'Camper #6' was put on. The girl quirked an eyebrow as she then pulled on a (beige, of course) sock, regretting her decision to follow the rules already.

Half an hour later and the girl was looking more normal. She'd brushed her teeth and washed her face, before brushing her hair and applying a little mascara.

Sitting on her bed cross-legged, Mae glanced at her phone. It was 8 am, and the timetable confirmed someone would knock on her cabin around this time.

She tapped her black scruffy trained quietly onto the floor, looking around her cabin.

It was quite small, and consisted of two rooms. A bathroom, which contained the usual, and a tiny bedroom, although it did have a mini fridge and sofa which Mae was pleased about. Her bedroom was quite a dark room, the bulb having faded and there was only one window. It consisted of one single bed, a set of drawers, a wooden bedside cabinet and a wardrobe with only 2 coat hangers. Towards the door there was a a moth-eaten settee and a small out of place white fridge beside it. The walls resembled logs, giving off a cabin atmosphere, and were decorated by a few aboriginal framed paintings.

Mae was looking around her cabin when she heard a knock on her door. "At last," she muttered under her breath, spring off her creaky bed and walking to the wooden door.
