I know I'm a little new to PIMD, and this won't catch a lot of peoples' attention because I'm not well-known, but sexting, bullying, abuse, etc. are becoming a huge problem around the world, not just PIMD, KaW, GaW, and FC (A Thinking Ape's games). I know it won't help much, but if you know someone who is being abused or bullied, show them this. I've copied and pasted stories I've found of real people like you and me being bullied or abused. Bullying Stories Megan Taylor Meier (November 6, 1992 – October 17, 2006), was an American teenager from Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, who committed suicide by hanging three weeks before her fourteenth birthday. A year later, Meier's parents prompted an investigation into the matter and her suicide was attributed to cyber-bullying through the social networking website MySpace. Jamey Rodemeyer (March 21, 1997 – September 18, 2011) was an openly gay teenager, known for his activism against homophobia and his videos on YouTube to help victims of bullying. Peers taunted him to die, saying “JAMIE IS STUPID, GAY, FAT ANND UGLY. HE MUST DIE!” and “I wouldn't care if you died. No one would. So just do it It would make everyone WAY more happier!” He committed suicide as a result of constant bullying. Facts -1 out of 4 teens are bullied. -1 out of 5 teens admits to being a bully. -282,000 students are physically attacked in secondary schools each month. R.I.P. to Megan and Jamey, and all others who committed suicide over being bullied Stories of Abuse Physical Abuse - Feb. 2009 - A father in Lodi, California, was charged with physical abuse after a school employee noticed and reported burns on a six-year old student, which were thought to have been inflicted by a clothes iron. She had also been beaten with a stick and her mother was charged with child endangerment. Neglect - Feb. 2009 - A mother in Dallas, Texas, was charged with neglect after her nine-year-old died from complications of diabetes after she failed to help her manage her disease. Facts -An average of nearly 4 children everyday die of some form of abuse. -More than 1.25 million, or 1 in every 58 children in the United States, were abused in 2006. -The most common form of abuse is neglect, which includes educational neglect, physical neglect, and emotional neglect. R.I.P. to all children and adults that have been killed due to excessive abuse Sexting Hope Witsell was a 13-year-old girl that just moved to Florida. In order to get a boy's attention, she sent a topless photo to him. Instead, she got the whole school's attention, as well as the high school nearby. After the incessant bullying she received from peers, she hung herself in her bedroom in September of 2009. The image was blurred and the voice distorted, but the words spoken by a young Ohio woman are haunting. She had sent nude pictures of herself to a boyfriend. When they broke up, he sent them to other high school girls. The girls were harassing her, calling her horrible names. She was miserable and depressed, afraid even to go to school. And now Jesse Logan was going on a Cincinnati television station to tell her story. Her purpose was simple: “I just want to make sure no one else will have to go through this again.” The interview was in May 2008. Two months later, Jessica Logan hanged herself in her bedroom. She was 18. Facts -20% of teens say they have sent a sexting message. -48% of teens say they have received a "sext." -Most states press charges against minors in possession of a "sext." R.I.P. to all minors or adults that killed themselves because of sexting This thread was just to show you the harms that bullying, sexting, and abuse can lead to. Please no trolling, only because trolling is bullying, or cyber-bullying. All of these stories are true, as I have gotten them from reliable sources. Thank you all for reading, and please, if you know someone who is being bullied and/or abused, tell them to tell a trusted adult, and if they don't, tell a trusted adult yourself. You don't want to risk a death in your life. If someone you know is actually the bully or abuser, tell them to knock it off. They will get in serious trouble if it continues. If someone you know is a minor that is sexting or an adult you know is sexting a minor, tell them what will happen when they get caught. Thank you again for reading
About 2 weeks ago, a girl in Canada commited suicide beause she was bullied at school and on social networks after school. She told to her mother what was happening and she told it to the principal. What does the principal did? He said that she was a little princess and that she was always complaining. The girl who bullied her also bullied her phisically. What was the consequence? 3 days out of the school and the poor girl that was attacked tried to defend agaisnt her agressor and she has been out of the school. Is it a real consequence for teen nowadays? No it isn't. This case only shows that sometimes, the agressor gets almost nothing and the victim become even more a victim. It's really sad to see how the people rect to these things. Time can't solve those problems. If you are bullied, do not give up. When someone bully you, it's jealousy for most of the time. Just ignore what they say and remember that the police is there to help.
Notice the cyberbullying suicide victims are bullied online by people they know an contact every day. That's the danger. If I were to harass you on a daily basis you wouldn't kill yourself because you don't have to go to school the next day and face me personally. If you know the person it's one thing, if the bully is anonymous you quit the game out of annoyance, you don't cut yourself or make yourself an ornament on a tree. It's common sense. This in no way is me saying bullying others is a good thing but you people need to take it down a notch. A trollish comment is not going to result in a death or injury.
Has anyone seen the movie cyber bully? I don't think people realize that words hurt. And you can't just tell people to ignore it. What if they actually have depression? Even before they got bullied? That isn't there fault.
