PREFACE There I stood. It was dark, lonely, cold, and I had no where else to run to. I never thought I would get this close, because beyond this black gate is a world I never knew about. It is a gate my family never wanted me to open. Once I do open the gate, it is all over and there is no turning back. This black gate isn't just any regular gate, it is a gate between worlds, and once you step through that gate your locked in forever. I look back at my house, and think of all the memories, good and bad. I lifted the key to the gate,put it in the key slot, and turned the gate unlocked. I took a deep breath in the cold bitter rain, and pushed the gate open. As I stand there with the gate open wide, I slowly walk through it. When I get to the other side I can't believe what I see. Then I hear the slamming of the black gate, and the turn of the lock. I know I'm stuck in here forever, stuck in the Shadowlands.
Chapter 1: Home My life is pretty normal. I live in a huge house, in fact it's to big. Outside of my house there is nothing for miles, except the big black gate. My dad told me it leads to the Shadowlands, a place where no sane person would want to go. I have the key to the black gate. No one knows, but I'm running away. I'm sick of this boring and dull life. I need some adventure, and I'm definitely not gonna find it sitting in this house the rest of my life. What are these shadowlands? I have no clue, but I plan on finding out today. My dad told me once you go in you can't come out. I think that is just a bunch of hog wash. If I wasn't able to get out, then why would I have the key?
Chapter 2: Him As I stood there, stuck behind this gate in the Shadowlands forever, I knew I had to find someone or something. I needed anything and anyone to help me in this unknown place. It was like he knew I needed help, because there he was. He was tall,dark,and handsome, and right be hind him was I'm guessing his pet wolf. The wolf was poised to kill, and snarling at me. " Zarco,sit!" the man said. I trembled as I heard his voice. " I'm so sorry. My dog is always wanting to kill people." he said with a dark and evil laugh. " I'm Danny, I have a feeling your not from here." he said. " No, I'm not. I'm from the other side of the black gate." I said. My voice was shaky. "Oh, what is your name?" Danny asked in a soothing but demanding voice. " Kristen, Kristen Keaton." I said kind of stuttering. " Well Kristen, what can I do for you?" he said leaning on a nearby boulder. " Nothing I'm just walking around." I said. "You and I both know that isn't true. Apparently you don't want my help I just leave. Zarco, come!" he said while walking away. "Wait!" I yelled, and he stopped. " If you want my help follow me. My house is just over that hill." he said smiling. I followed to his house.
Chapter 3: Trouble He didn't have a house, he had a mansion. As he opened the doors I felt the heat from the gaping fireplace. It overpowered me, because it was so dreadfully cold outside. " So what do you think?" Danny asked. " Oh my God, this place is bigger than my house and my house is huge." I said in amazement. "Let me show you to your room." he said with a sinister smile. I followed him up the swirling stairs to the very top. "This is your room. It's not much, but I think you will like it." he said backing away. I stood there in awe. He left the room and locked the door. "What the hell!! why did you lock me in here?" I screamed. " I'm not letting a girl ruin my kingdom that I made." he said in a angry tone. " Why would I destroy your kingdom?!?!" I yelled at the door banging on it. "You know exactly why. I never thought the prophecy would come true, but I was ready for it if it did! Here is the prophecy now, locked inside my tower! So nothing can stop me now, not even you." he said clearly walking down the stair case. I felt so confused. There was a prophecy? About what? Whatever it was it involved me destroying his "kingdom". I plan on finding out what the prophecy is, and how to escape this tower.
