Anzac Day

  1. So as of now, early morning on Wednesday the 25th of April 2012, Australia, Nee Zealand and the surrounding nations celebrate anzac day. A day to remember, the good men and women who served our countries so valiantly to protect our way of life.

    As quoted from another source:
"Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, originally commemorated by both countries on 25 April every year to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. It now more broadly commemorates all those who died and served in military operations for their countries.[1][2] Anzac Day is also observed in the Cook Islands, Niue, Pitcairn, and Tonga. It is no longer observed as a national holiday in Papua New Guinea and Samoa."

So on a parting note, and to help us remember. The ode of remembrance:

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
    We will remember them.

    Lest We Forget.
