academic reference

  1. Hey guys!

Was just wondering if anyone knows what goes into an academic reference? And what information the referee will need?

    I really need the help!

    Thanks 

  2. I would give them:
    - your résumé
    - your transcripts (unofficial is OK)
    - detailed description about what they're referring you for (if a job, tell what about it appeals to you, where you can shine; if a school, tell what program you're interested in, what you want to do after)
    - if you have submitted cover letter to job/school, include that.

Give them these, then give them opportunity to ask questions. They may want to know what you expect from them -- to praise your work ethic? Your creativity? Your ability to work w others? Give them ideas for how you hope they can help you.

More = better. Last thing you want is for your reference to give generic recommendation.

  3. I don't think I have any transcripts... But I'm sure I can come up with something or he can maybe get a copy with them if need be.

    Thank you 

  4. Your grades are good enough can make a spreadsheet or printout.
