I stand in the public library, feeling hooded eyes stare at me as I awkwardly sit in a stained chair. People around me coughed and I could hear the rustling of garbage as the homeless found sanctuary from the negative degree weather. I was starting to feel nervous... 'What if something happened?' I thought in my mind as anxiety took its place. I was on my way home to Canada from the United States when my connecting flight got delayed and I was stuck in a cold, frozen wasteland. Thankfully, it wasn't my first time in this place and I contacted an old friend. One who should have been here 20 minutes ago... Suddenly, someone grabs me. It takes me a minute to process who it was when suddenly recognition shot through me. It's her! " sorry I'm so late, I forgot where this place was" she says, looking at me with excited eyes. "I thought maybe we should go to the movies, I brought tickets" she rushes as she drags us out into the frigid snow. "Alright, let's do it" I say, smiling as I zip up my jacket and grab my luggage- I hate the cold. I close my eyes as the booming of suspense fills the air in the theatre. I turn to my friend, her eyes glued to the screen as I warily stared at the alcoholic drink she snuck in. She glances at me, "want some?" She asks, shaking it in front of me. "No thanks" I reply, glueing a smile onto my face. I turn to the movie, it's a horror- my least favourite. Suddenly my friend turns to me and I can see just by looking at her she drank too much. "Are you ok?" I ask, unsure. She shakes her head and suddenly lunges at me, forcing her face close to mine in an effort to kiss me. I'm shocked, and furious. I have a boyfriend!! I push her off without a word and she stood up, yelling profanity until she stumbles out of the theatre. I turn back, still furious and finish the movie. I don't follow her. It didn't dawn on me until the lights went back on that I should have stuck with her, as I was staying the night at her place. I drag my stuff into the open lobby of the theatre and look around. Nothing. Suddenly lights went out and I warning signalled that the theatre was closing and everyone had to leave. Panicked, I walk out, unsure of what to do. Thoughts rushed through my mind as I searched the empty parking lot. It was 2 in the morning and I had to be back at the airport at 7. I could tell by looking around that the busses weren't running and all the stores were closed. I felt tears crawl down my face as I stood in a foot of snow as the realization that I was lost in a city I didn't know, alone, struck me. Suddenly, a figure came up behind me, followed by another one. "Need a lift?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is my first story so sorry if there's any grammatical errors also it will pick up later on!! I'm basing this off of a true story that happened to me recently- all parts of this is a real experience and it was not fun Im gonna add my own twist to the plot so it turns fictional to make it more interesting but please tell me if I should continue!
