Chapter 1: The Beginning At 5 am, I wake up, slamming the snooze button on my alarm. "Stupid alarm," I mutter. Then I realize what day it is. Monday. I'm all of a sudden in hyperdrive. Why? I couldn't wait to get to school!! We were going on a week-long campout to Caddo Lake, the only natural lake in Texas. Of course, that might not have been my only reason for wanting to get to school.. I had a huge crush on Becky, a beautiful girl in my class. Nobody knew I liked her. Well, somehow or other, the twin girls in my class did, but I'll leave you to figure out how. When I got to school, it was like stepping into a beehive: loud, crowded, excited people. The car ride took at least 2 hours, if not longer. Lucky for me, I was assigned to the same car as Becky!! When we got to the campsite, it was amazing. Trees everywhere, small puddles with frogs the size of a fingernail, an upended tree!! I even caught a green garden snake in the road and let people take pictures of it slithering through my fingers. After dinner, we roasted s'mores and told ghost stories. Then we went to brush our teeth, shower, and get in our tents to sleep. I chatted for a while with my tentmates before I dropped out cold.
