A Question

Discussion in 'Off Topic' started by renamed34360, Jul 12, 2018.

  1. Should society forgive those who commit murder (murderers and murderesses) after their sentences have been completed? Should we allow them to move on, stigma free, and create new lives for themselves?

I do not actually have a position or opinion. I can truly see both sides, so I am sitting on the fence.

  2. Personally, I believe in redemption and second chances. If the person has worked hard towards being a positive influence again or for the first time, why not forgive them and let them be a part of society again?

  4. If they served their time why not. I wouldn't go pissing them off but i wouldn't judge em

  5. Am pro-capital punishment tbh. If it was a child murderer i think there is a possibility of change but not adults

  6. As am I in theory, but I assume that you would not have every single murderer and murderess executed, so assuming the ones who escaped the noose were released from prison…

  7. Once a murderer, always a murderer.

    jk. Ofc you forgive.

  8. Punishment is necessary i think but depends on what they did... how if they only defended them self? or because drugs influences or poor mental health?

  9. Then don't assume and you have your answer

  10. I believe that if it is not a serial act, and they serve the time well, they should be accepted back into society. Yes, be weary and such, but they shouldn’t be punished by society when they did their time well and prove their progress. However, much of this also depends on who they murdered and the reason why, and if the only crime was murder.

If it was serial, however, I don’t believe they should be let out of prison, or should at least get an extremely long sentence (for those who didn’t commit the crime, or brutally commit it, over 2-3 times).

  11. I also believe in second chances however I don't see that EVERYONE is deserving of one. When I deal out punishments I don't it based on the severity of the situation and reasons/circumstances as to why they did what they did

Serving your time isn't enough to deam someone worthy of having a second chance (sad sob story no ones cares about incoming) Step father was a drug addict and stole from people's home when he did installation. He was caught and arrested but when he got out he was still stealing and doing drugs

I know that Theft & Drug abuse and murder are 2 different things but hear me out. If he could do it a second time so could a murderer and ik NOT ALL people have the will power ig to do something like that twice they shouldn't be let back into society

FT: IF WE LET MURDERS BACK INTO SOCIETY WE SHOULD KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THEM AND THEIR ACTIVITY

  12. Idk. Depends on the situation lol. That's a pretty vague question.

  13. If it was someone killing a rap.ist or something like that then no.... But just killing to kill... Idk.

  14. Everyone deserves to pay for what they have done and everyone deserves a second chance.

  15. I think it all depends on the severity, intentions, and the thought process of the murderer in my opinion. The less murderous the more I think a second chance should be given.

  16. This is just a very situational type of topic, all in all.

  17. Are you saying that you don't trust the legal system to properly rehabilitate people, and you think they'd let dangerous people out of the system?

  18. Where the hell did that come from? 

I’m more so saying that society isn’t very open to accepting criminals.

I’m also more so saying if someone who killed one person and had bad behavior in prison, thus leading to them having a longer sentence, could be considered more dangerous all due to prison time when compared to someone who r*ped and killed/had committed multiple murders but had great behavior in prison, leading to a shortened sentence, thus possibly being seen as better and properly rehabilitated.

As I said, it’s situational. One factor could change how they are accepted or shunned. Situational.

Though in personal opinion, I do not believe much in the legal system.

  19. Someone, somewhere had a good reason for why they did.

  20. If they killed a child, life sentence.

If they killed in self defense, no jail time.

If they killed someone doing something vile, give them a medal.

    Serial killer, death penalty.

Hate crime related murder, life sentence.

Anything else, debatable jail time with 5 years of parole.
