    Jess's POV:

Jess woke up from a deep slumber as her alarm clock screeched loudly. She groggily reached out a tanned arm and hit the snooze button.

"Stupid alarm..." She mumbled under her breath, before stretching and leaning back on the universe patterned bed covers.

"Breakfast is ready," Shouted up her mother, from below.
" 'Kay" Jess mumbled in response, still tired.

After a couple of minutes, she rose from the luxurious comfy bed. Jess plodded over to the mirror, sulking at being woken up.

The mirror was as tall as a grown man and rose up to the shadowy ceiling, looking out of place in the small cramped room.It was a shiny silver colour that was surrounded by a beautifully carved pinewood border.

She could see herself clearly in the reflection. She had long black hair, reaching down to her waist. Her fringe, pure black, swept across her forehead covering her piercing green eyes. They were enough to enchant anyone. She was wearing, fully clothed from the late night earlier, a pair of ripped skinny jeans and a black T-shirt, protected by a band hoodie.

She rolled her frog coloured eyes as her mother pounded on the floor boards, her patience evaporating. Jess quickly ran a brown comb through her bird nest of a hair before making her way down the steep steps, leading to the kitchen.

Jess thought everything would be normal...She'd eat, work at a local coffee shop then come home..How wrong she was...

Nothing's ever as one predicts though,is it?

  8. James was tired. Very tired. Like waking up at two in morning tired. Thats exactly what he has done.
Sitting on his roof feeling the cool breeze of the dark morning. "I wish life was like this, easy going but still going somewhere." James smiled to himself before sliding off his roof and landing in his back lawn.

His mother was gone, again. His brothers and sisters were hungry, or left for school already. He, himself was neither.
"James!" His little sister said in her high pitched voice. She grabbed his light brown arm and looked up at him. "Can you please make pancakes?" She gave him her best smile, forgetting about the front tooth she lost yesterday. James ran his hand through his small, messy, dreads.
"Uh...yeah sure I guess." He patted her head and walked to the kitchen.

Nothing, not a single thing was in the kitchen. "What the...?" He had opened all of the cabinets, the fridge, the drawers. Nothing. "Lana, what happened?" He turned to his little sister, he figured that was a stupid question as soon as the words flew out of his mouth. "I...I don't know...." She looked on in disbelief.
"Mom, is what happened...." James's little brother Omar, had been sitting on a rickety stool the whole time. James knew what that meant. His mom must've got mad at one of his siblings and threw everything out.
"Bitch...." James muttered before drifting back outside his little sister in tow behind him.

Ever had that time in your life where your day starts off bad and ends horrible. James's will be just lime that. Who would've known that the world was going to turn in that direction and ruin people's lives, slaughtering millions as it did so.

"Mother earth will one day take herself back from the filthy hands of man."

  11. Jess's P.O.V
Jess sat in a small tattered seat as she gazed at her Cheerios, floating in a milky sea.She sighed as she drew her gaze away and looked around.

She lived in a small cluttered house with her constantly. stressed mother and her workaholic father, James. Her mother was always busy whereas her father was never around. The only reason why Jess even liked her home, was for her pink poodle, Jack.

Jack had been found on the streets and after a lot of persuading, he soon became the family dog.Not that anyone , but Jess , saw much of him. He was a whitey pink colour with fluffy fur and a ditzy look to his hyper black eyes.

"Go away boy, I'm not giving you anyway!" Jess chuckled, as Jack gazed at her Cheerios longingly.

She tucked a strand of stray hair behind her ear, self conscious under the dog's hungry eyes. Jess sighed and gave him one before grabbing her black handbag and walking to the front door.

"Bye mum," shouted Jess, wondering if she'd get a response.

Nothing.A sigh escaped her chapped lips as she opened the front door, being attacked by heavy winds in seconds. She frowned and pulled her hoodie closer around her slim shoulders.Hadn't the weather forecast predicted sun?

Shrugging it off, she stepped out into the harsh air.Suddenly, the door slammed shut causing Jess to jump.A shudder ran up her spine as her back tensed.

"It's just the wind.." She doubtfully reassured herself, before continuing to walk down the wonky path.

Jess was on her way to the local coffee shop. She'd been working there for three weeks, ever since her friend had bribed the manager. That's what Jess thought, at least. She had no idea why they'd want her there at an already busy with employers shop...

Her teeth chattered as she approached the coffee shop.It was a small building mainly used for socialising and business meetings.

She pushed open the unusually heavy door, eager to get out of the cold. Her eyes widened as she looked around at the empty room...Where was everyone?

  12. James (POV)

It was cold, very cold. He understood its Fall and all but the weatherman predicted warm weather.
"Stupid weatherman, next time they need to tell him the right things." James let out a cold breath as he was walking down a cracked sidewalk. "Idiots." He coughed a little then wiped his mouth with his sleeve.

His little sister was running behind him trying to catch up. "James!" Her giant pink backpack with a unicorn on the back was slowing her down. "James wait!" James stopped in his tracks and waited for his little sister. "Thanks Big Bro."
"No problem." He smiled down at his little sister then continued to walk down the sidewalk. His little sister was about 8, he himself was 17. His family teased him because of his height, he towered over everyone so they nicknamed him "Tower". The name only stuck with two of his brothers.

"James...why is there blood on your sleeve?" His sister grabbed his wrist and inspected the sleeve like a crime scene.
"Blood?" He took his wrist back and looked at the sleeve. Blood. From where? "My mouth...."
He finally felt the dribble of blood coming down his mouth. "How did...?" His hands shot up to his head and gripped his hair, soon his grip was tightening around his head. He dropped down onto his knees as tears flooded out of his eyes. "What the fu-!" His eyes turned into his head and he blacked out.

Last thing he heard was his sister screaming and footsteps coming down the pavement. Fast footsteps.

    Dangerous footsteps.
