 Quite Distasteful 

  1. Alright bear with me folks, this is my first time posting

So today I was reading an article that quite frankly, repulsed me. What was discussed in the aforementioned article was the recall of a certain sweatshirt produced and sold by a certain retailer whom I shall remain nameless for now, but I'll leave a link to the article so that you can check out the culprit.

Here's a photo of the sweatshirt, perhaps you've already seen/heard about this.

This hit very close to home for me, and I'm pretty heated about it. I do apologize if I'm bringing up old news for some, but I felt it significant enough to share. This of course being from a very popular retailer, I'm sure most would agree that this is quite distasteful, and rather appalling. And if there are any confused as to why this is so offensive, and are unaware of the Kent State University shooting of 1970, I will also leave a link to an article from the Kent State website.

Thoughts on this? If you check out the first article what are your thoughts on the other accidentally/maliciously offensive products mentioned?

Thank you for taking the time to read, I apologize for any bb code mistakes

  2. And yeah, hi

  3.  just saying now I only read the first bit of the article so I knew what happened. Uhm, from the little knowledge I now have, it seems kinda disrespectful. I dont know what they were trying to achieve, but to some it could be taken very personally.

  4. Howdy  Thoughts on the subject?

  5. It seems as though they've been consistently trying to push the shock factor onto their customers/the public... but indeed for what reason? ? I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it.

  6. And the fashion industry gets desperate

  7. It sure is slow here

  8. I wasn't at all surprised by which company this was. Not the slightest. Is it honestly that hard to NOT take dark situations and try to make them fashion statements? They have a history of offensive apparel, however this kinda takes the cake. It's one thing to sell a "vintage" sweatshirt.....but then to make it look bloodstained? They're well aware of what happened there, I'm sure.

It's very distasteful, yes. They crossed the line.....once again.

  9. I wasn't surprised either Marina, but indeed this was the most distressing product they've made yet (and the children's "sheriff" shirt was really bad). And I do believe they were forced to apologize, and from what I read the apology was not sincere in the slightest. I've never given them a penny, and now absolutely never will.

  10. Ahhh, yes the "Sheriff" shirt. They were supposed to be "sheriff stars" Lmao gimme a break. That was recent as well. Do they ever learn? Like, who comes up with these ideas? Who would ever think that these are okay and acceptable concepts. Baffles me.

And of course they're not sincere. I don't believe they have been know the past and if I recall correctly they refused to apologize for the "Eat Less" and other eating disorder idolizing shirt. They unfortunately make enough money that they don't need to apologize. I hope others will stop funding this garbage. I've also never spent a dime on them and won't.

  11. I love how they thought having a faint cutout of the word "sheriff" in the star would make it clear that it's obviously a mock sheriff's badge and not a Star of David... they don't even try to be discrete about any of it. And the Eat Less shirt... my God I can't even fathom what made them think that would be received in any positive light. They must be purposefully seeking negative attention for publicity or what have you, because they couldn't possibly have thought any of this wouldn't be prone to controversy and outrage.

  12. Exactly. How many times are they gonna have to pull items back before they realize what NOT to do?

  13. I think one of the biggest problems is they market towards consumers of the younger generations, who will probably be the most likely to disregard their highly offensive apparel. The youth of America today has become so desensitized that the idea of a boycott is unfortunately unrealistic... but the idea that a survivor of the shooting/the University itself may sue or take some sort of action seems a little more likely. I'm hoping that happens anyhow... might be a little far-fetched.

  14. We should all take great offense to a company using our pain for their publicity and profit. This item is beyond poor taste and trivializes a loss of life that still hurts the Kent State community today! They now have publicly apologized... Sad just makes me disgusted

  15. yeah it's distasteful

But in their defense a little bit, kent does have a thriving metal scene with much more distasteful t-shirts
