❀Can Money Buy Happiness? ❀ Hey kids! So, I was watching Big Brother Aus (yeah, yeah, I know ), and the housemates brought up the age-old question - Can money buy happiness? Firstly, what is happiness to you? Is it being safe and secure? Having things that you want? Seeing or hearing something beautiful or inspiring? Feeling loved by others? Having a sense of achievement from the things you do? Helping others? All of the above? Something else? Secondly, how important is having a lot of money in your life, beyond having enough for what you actually need? And do you equate money with happiness? For me, having a bit of extra cash makes life easier, and less stressful, but I don't think it's essential for happiness.. What are your views on this question?
Well truthfully I think people don't need money to be happy. If I'm out with friends we just go on a walk or something nice like go to the beach. They're all free.
I do think money buys happiness. It can buy comfort, and pay the electricity bill, and all of that. You're not going to be very happy if you're begging on the street for spare coins. Also, I'm sure we'd all be pretty excited if we won a million dollars or something. However, if you only have money, you might not be very happy. I think it's a balance between money and whatever you love, whether it be a person or a hobby. Money to let you achieve whatever you want to achieve. Then you'll be happy.
Rose, that's true, but if you have money, you don't have to be worried about it. If you're on that said beach and you're completely broke, it's likely you would be worrying about where your next meal would come from, rather than enjoying the walk.
Money can bring you happiness, but happiness can't bring you money. Jk. Idk bout none of that ****. I only rely on my monthly allowance. BUT... Money: I'll let you borrow my mac, and I'll lend you some cash for clubbing tonight. I'll buy this crap for my gf. Happiness: Man, I'm having so much fun with friends, but I'm broke af. #MONEYMONEYMONEY #LOOKIN4ASUGARMAMA
In a why money can buy you happiness, I mean, I'd be overjoyed if I won £1m in the lottery! Who wouldn't? But there is so many thing that can bring happiness which isn't bought. For example being with friends and family, just chilling or talking to them.
I think you've gotta find a way to separate the two though.. I agree money can make life more comfortable, and I guess that security is a form of happiness.. But relying on money as your main source of happiness is a scary thought.. You could lose everything you own in an instant, but being a happy person would change how you viewed he situation and help you recover from the loss.. So many examples
Svetlania, you always seemed like an imaginative person to me doing something creative, and making something yourself as opposed to buying it, would probably give you a sense of achievement and happiness
I don't think money buys happiness, but it can make people happy in the sense of giving you what you need (such as food to survive or a child a new toy). In the long run though, if all you have is money and you're alone, it's going to be a little depressing. People could use you for the money, and money definitely can't talk back.
I believe money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you comfort. It's more comfortable to cry in a Mercedes than on a bicycle for example. But to stay on topic, no, I don't believe it can. And happiness, is a feeling of accomplishment within myself, after helping someone else, also being around those special people who make you forget about all the shit in the world (whether it's on here or in rl). But I truly believe that you can't find true happiness without a serious breakdown of yourself, and actually really evaluate the right and wrong of your life. Anywho, great thread Ahli
