I know many people have not tried this fabulous dessert and even more have asked me for the recipe. So I have decided to put it on here to save time. This dish sounds complicated but it's really not. The only thing is it's best to prep ice-cream early in the morning and let it freeze during the day so it can be enjoyed as a scrumptious dessert. Then again again you can be like me and freeze it overnight and spoil yourself for breakfast ~~~~~FRIED ICE CREAM~~~~~ Ingredients •1 quart vanilla ice cream (I prefer French vanilla bean) •3-4 cups crushed cornflakes cereal (I use frosted flakes personally but either work) •1 tsp ground cinnamon •3 egg whites •2 quarts oil •large pot or deep fryer • wax paper Makes 8 servings TYPICAL TOPPINGS- whipped cream, honey, cherries, powdered sugar, chocolate sauce etc... Be creative DIRECTIONS 1- scoop ice cream into 8- 1/2 cup size balls and place on baking sheet lined with wax paper. Freeze until firm 1-3 hours. 2- in a shallow dish, combine cornflakes and cinnamon. In separate dish beat eggwhites until foamy, not whipped. 3-roll ice cream balls in egg whites then in cornflakes. (make sure ice cream is completely covered, and if desired repeat process to create a thick crust) 4- refreeze ice-cream again, 3 hours up to overnight. 5- in deep fryer or large pot heat oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) 6- fry ice-cream balls 1-2 at a time for 10-15 seconds until crust is golden. 7- serve immediately with desired toppings ENJOY
Frozen ice-cream center soft ice-cream middle and a crispy crunchy crust. It's yummy. They serve a panko crust variation at chevy's restaurants. And a few other restaurant chains serve them too.
With powdered sugar and drizzle on some honey.... Mmmmmm I'm such an ice cream lover. I even went to home depot and bought 3 marble tiles and sanitized them. Throw them in the freezer and pull them out when you want home made cold stone... I'm such a fatt ass
I wish I could put I can't get photobucket. I haven't had a comp in a long time to get iTunes and a decent update
