Once In a Blue Moon Prologue I walked down the stairs of my house, making sure not to make any noise. My parents and my little sister were fast asleep. As I walked past my little sister’s room I could her here soft breathing. I have remarkable hearing. Even if I can’t do anything with it right now. I’m only 17. I felt the cold winter breeze as it brushed against my skin and through my hair. The hairs on my arms prickled. I motioned towards my jacket, but as I was about to grab it I found myself stopping at the sight of the moon. The beauty our blue moon has. The sight is simply breath taking. Especially since the Moon is only spotted once a year. I think for a second and the moon makes me think of my little sister, Jai. She loves the Moon. I go over to Jai’s room to wake her up. I’m sure she won’t mind being woken up at one in the morning to look at the beauty of the blue moon. When I walked into her bedroom she was laying down on her side. When I saw her all I thought about was how peaceful she looks, and how bad I’d feel for waking her up from such a peaceful sleep. I walked up to her and shook her till she woke up, “What do you want Darain?” she moaned rolling over in her bed. “I just thought you’d like to see the Moon. Since I know just how much you love how it looks up in the sky, but if you don’t want to I guess I’ll just let you finish you sleep,” I turned around, but by the time I was halfway towards the door she was pulling at my sleeves. “I’m sorry Darain! I didn’t know you came here for that. I want to see the moon,” she begged. I looked into her eyes, “Okay Jai, but get your coat on. We’re going into the woods,” When we walked out of our house Jai was trailing behind me wearing her light blue hoodie. We had put our hoods on to hide our golden blonde hair. Once we had gotten to the edge of the woods I made sure Jai was at the side of me, so she wouldn’t get lost. For one in the morning there were a lot of animals out. They were probably enjoying the sight of the blue moon just as we were. We stopped walking through the woods after two miles. We stopped at a clearing that had two large boulders and a stream, but the most remarkable thing was that this spot was directly under the moon. Jai ran over to the smaller boulder. I helped her up the boulder and then climbed up myself. When I got up Jai was sitting cross-legged in the middle of the boulder. I smiled and laughed to myself, and then I joined her in the middle of the boulder. “Darain, you were born under the Moon,” Jai stated. I didn’t know where she was getting at. It was almost confusing. Did she think I didn’t know or was she just checking to make sure her facts were right? “Yeah Jai, I was born under the Moon, why?” I looked at her. She seemed to have her eyes fixed on the moon, soaking up every last drop of its blue light. Her eyes never left the moon once as she responded, “Could you tell me the story of the moon?” I didn’t answer. She looked at me. I moved over closer to her, and I let her rest her head on my shoulder, “Of course I’ll tell you the story.” I started, “A thousand years ago, there was a woman named Luna. Luna was a very unique woman. She was strong, intelligent, clever, beautiful, charismatic, and most important she was the protector of our planet. Now, protectors are immortal and they get special powers. They are like this, because they have to protect their planet for eternity. "Everything was going great, until there was a sudden rebellion from the Norctic Susion. Their leader was known as Faenza. He was a vicious and cruel person. He would raid cities and kill people just for fun. Rumor says, he was a cannibal and he ate all of his victims. Now there was no stopping this notorious murderer, even Luna knew this. Though, when she figured this out it was already too late. Faenza was invading her province. "Luna looked all through the city during the attack for Faenza. She had almost thought that maybe he wasn’t there until she saw Faenza. He was standing over the dead body of Luna’s lover, Alexander. Out of grief Luna sprung herself towards Alexander’s limp body. She attempted to revive him, but Alexander had already lost too much blood. " Faenza was just looking down at Luna, laughing at her weakness. It was then, in a last attempt to save the planet, Luna cast herself and all those warriors attacking her province into the sky so the people of her planet would be safe. Once she went into the sky she became the moon and those attacking became the stars. They say that she is still fighting warriors up in the sky to this day, trying to keep her people safe. Then, once a year she checks up on her planet to make sure everything is going fine. " As an act of precaution she selected a few people to be her warriors. Her Warriors would protect the planet if there was another attack. Those few that were selected to be her warriors would be born under the moon. They would be born with some of her skills and magic. There is only one true Moon Warrior in each of the five sections of our planet. One for our northeast section, Norctic Susion, one for our northwest section, Disnen Rowan, one for our southeast section, Norctic Geng, one for our southwest section, Disnen Eaglet, and one for our middle section, Fermi. " Nobody will ever know for sure who the true Moon Warriors are until there’s trouble starting down here on our planet. It is said that if there is true trouble arising that Luna herself will reincarnate herself into a human or cast she’ll herself down in spirit to aid those warriors. But for now all we can do is live in the peace she gave us, and hope that trouble doesn’t spring up during our life time,” I looked down at Jai who was now resting her head on my lap. She barely seemed to be awake. She looked at the moon one last time and then looked at me. “Goodnight, my Moon Warrior,” and she fell asleep. I sat there with Jai asleep on my lap for awhile. I carefully got up and picked up Jai. When I got off the rock Jai started to mumble, but she quickly fell quite again. The walk back home was uneventful and boring without Jai up to keep me company. When I walked up to our houses door knob I made sure to open it as quietly as possible, and I crept inside and closed the door silently. I looked around the house. It was exactly the way I had left it. I walked over to Jai’s room and tucked her into her bed. She rolled over in her bed and she looked exactly like she did when I came to wake her up. I walked out of her bedroom and went upstairs to my bedroom. The breeze that was here when I had first come down was gone and when I got to my bedroom and looked out of my window so was the moon. The Moon never did last very long. It would be here for a couple of hours and then just disappear. I had never missed a night of a moon. Strangely enough I would never be able to sleep on a night of a moon. It’s almost like I could sense the moon coming before it actually, but I didn’t want to ponder on how I was actually able to sense it if my thoughts were true. I walked over to my bed and pulled off the sheets and laid on my bed. I looked outside my window, and up at the sky. Now all that was left to look up at in the sky were the stars. The Warriors for Faenza. I wonder if the story is true. I doubt it is. There is no evidence that any of this even ever happened. All there is are old oral myths. I still had school tomorrow. So, I casted all of my thoughts about the moon and went to bed. The last thing I remembered seeing was a shooting star cross the sky. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How is it so far? I'm going to try to post a chapter every week... But I'm stuck on chapter 6... So once I get around there chapters might take awhile.
My sister told me that the whole five Guardian thing reminded her of Sailor Moon. So, it's not so strange. Thank you everyone for reading my story!
