Prologue Shayde A hand shakes my shoulder frantically, a voice gasping. "SHAYDE WAKE UP!" Flame's voice is loud in my ear over the sounds of screaming. "Oh no...," I leap to my feet, my hands searching for my well worn moccasins in the dim candle light. The guards had found our hideaway in a dinky alleyway. Flame yanks me along behind him, ducking on occasion to avoid the careful eyes of humans. "Here." He points to a large, black horse standing at attention with nothing on him. Not even a bridle. "Your joking," I mutter as he boosts me up on the horse's broad back. "No not really, you know how to ride, so ride!" Flame kicks my horse in the butt from his own stolen mount. The horse whinnies and I put my legs on, grabbing a handful of mane so I don't fall off.
