(So I've never really written a story before so this might not be that good) It was a couple days before my seventeenth birthday. It was raining. I was waiting for my seventeen year old step brother, James Cobalt to pick me up. He never showed 'Great..now I'll have to walk home' I thought. I got home and my younger sister of 16 years, Izzy, was on the couch talking with her boyfriend Nick. "Hey! Why are you all wet? Didn't James pick you up?" said Izzy. "No he didn't..where's mom?" I responded. "Working late again" she said. Mom always had to work late for some reason. "Oh ok well I'm going to my room and Hi Nick" I said with a smile. "Hello!" he said. I went up to my room and changed into some dried clothes and sat on my bed. I was already starting to fall asleep when my best friend Gale Coyote, texted me. She was kinda like my older sister cause she's 18. She had texted me saying she was going to pick me up because she wanted me to meet someone.
She picked me up about 15 minutes after she texted me. "hey come on let's go the person I want you to meet is waiting at my house!" she said with an excites tone in her voice. I got into the car and we drove to her house. Once we go there I got out of the car and she grabbed my hand and pulled me into her house. "Vanessa, this is my cousin Michael. Michael this is my best friend Vanessa" she said smiling. Michael turned around. I looked at him and smiled. I had no idea what to say. He was..gorgeous. Dark brown eyes,black hair. About 5'8. "Hey. After Michael and I talked for a while, Gale took me home. Izzy was outside crying. That's how I knew something was going on inside. She was sitting down on the front porch so I sat next to her and put an arm around her. "Izzy?" I said, "are mom and dad fighting again?" "yes." she said and started crying. I hugged her tightly. James came home and saw us on the porch. He knew what was going on so he sat down next to us. We could hear mom and dad yelling at each other from outside. "Guys, let's go somewhere until mom and dad stop fighting. It's better that way." said James. Izzy and I agreed. With that said we all got into James car and drove off..
A couple hours later, James,Izzy and I came back home. Mom was asleep in her room and dad was wide awake laying down on the couch. He saw us come in and told us he needed to talk to us. "Come sit down" he said. We all sat on the other couch. "As you guys know you're mother and I haven't been getting along lately. The next thin I'm going to tell you hurts me more than it might hurt you," he said...he paused for a while then continued. "You're mother and I are getting a divorce.."he said. I was shocked and so was Izzy. Tears were filling up in her eyes. James was trying to be strong about it and I could tell. My parents are getting a divorce?! This was going to be the worse birthday week ever!
