  1. Emily sat down on her bed. It had only been about a half hour since she was marched to her chamber and locked inside with Jared.

"Why are you staying?" Emily asked him.

"Because I'm your tutor, that's why," Jared replied, watching the snow fall inside a small snow globe on top of Emily's dresser.

"You didn't [italics] have [/italics] to stay" Emily said.

"I know," He said, "But even in this crisis, you still need to study."

Emily sighed and looked out a window.

"But how long will it be until they realize it," she said.

  4. "Lady Elizabeth! Get out of your chamber this instant!" Lillian yelled through the door leading to Elizabeth's chamber.

"No!" Lady Elizabeth screamed back. She was huddled under her covers on her bed.

"It's time to get ready for the day!" Delilah yelled, joining in the conversation.

"NO!" Lady Elizabeth screamed, putting a pillow over her head.

"You're still in your night things!" Lillian yelled, pushing against the door.

Cynthia looked down at the new dress the three maids had picked out for Lady Elizabeth. The torso was yellow and the skirt was white decorated with real daisies from the royal garden.

    "Let me in," She whispered.

There was a slight pause. Then, the door slowly opened and Cynthia slipped inside.

  10. "Now, repeat after me, S'il vous plaît apportez-moi un peu de thé" Jared said.

"What?" Emily broke out of her daydream.

"Repeat what I just said," Jared repeated, "S'il vous plaît apportez-moi un peu de thé"

"I hate learning French," Emily scoffed.

"Emily, you need to focus on your studies!" Jared said, on the brink of loosing his temper.

"I know, it's just so boring " said Emily said, standing up.

"In such a situation, we shall try to behave as normal as possible," Jared replied, standing up from his chair.

"How much longer are they gonna keep us cooped in here anyway?" Emily asked.

"Until you are either proven guilty or innocent," Jared replied.

There was a knock on the door.

"Emily! You're tea is ready," a small voice said from behind the door.

"Do please come in," Jared called back. The door opened, and there was a small girl pushing a cart that held a rose patterned tea pot and matching cups.

"As I was saying, you should focus on your education," Jared said, turning to face Emily.

    Emily moaned.

"But Jared, I'm scared, I didn't do it. What if they say I'm guilty? Even if they conclude I'm innocent, the public will still carry negative rumors," Emily said, sitting down on her bed. Her eyes were filled with tears.

"Emily, if you are innocent, that is what what the judge will say," Jared said, sitting down at a table by a large stain-glass window. "But for now, do join me for some tea,"

  12. "How long has it been since the failed assassination happened?" Lady Elizabeth asked Cynthia.

"About a week," Cynthia replied. Cynthia was braiding Lady Elizabeth's hair in front of a gilded vanity.

"Poor Emily, I wonder, what's she up to these days?" Lady Elizabeth thought aloud.

"She and her tutor, Jared, have been locked up in Emily's chamber, only the servants go in and out of there," Cynthia replied, carefully braiding Lady Elizabeth's hair.

"What about the others? Have they reached a verdict?" Lady Elizabeth asked, turning to face Cynthia.

"They haven't," Cynthia replied, "Although all the evidence points to dear Emily, witnesses say she smiled when she saw the bow coming towards you."

Lady Elizabeth stood up. Without a word, she crossed the room to a book shelf, piled with books of every size.

"They just don't understand. Emily did not do it," Lady Elizabeth said, "She promised."
