  12. Within an hour me and Xavier looked completely different. I had managed to coax Xavier into a suit and tie, which he had been adjusting ever since he put it on. I wore a strapless red dress that ended just above my knee with my hair pulled back into a low side ponytail. Xavier stared while I put on my earrings.
    "What?" I said smiling.
    "You look amazing."
    "You're just saying that."
    "No, I'm not."
We stood there staring at each-other, finally I broke the silence.
    "We should get going."
    "Yeah."
And we walked out the door.

Ten minutes later Xavier and I pulled up in front of a fancy restaurant packed to the brim with trillionares. I saw Gina standing with a dark man and walked over. Gina was positively beaming at the sight of us.
"Trent! Laura! Over here! I want you to meet somebody!"
Xavier and I walked over cautiously. The man standing next to Gina came into view. He was tall, a little taller then Xavier even. He had perfect tan skin and chocolate brown eyes that matched his slicked-back hair perfectly. Normally I would be attracted to a man this handsome, but something about him set me on edge.
    "This is Antonio Montoya."
He extended his hand, and although he was smiling his eyes were cold.
"It is so nice to be meetings for this dinner."
He shook Xavier's hand as if he had just sneezed on it and kissed mine gently.
"Shall we go in for the eatings?"
We all walked in and sat down at the farthest corner table. Gina looked surprised at me and Xavier as we sat down.
"Is everything alright with you two?"
No it's not! I wanted to scream at her, I just found out I'm going to be a mom in seven months while I'm still a f*****g virgin! I somehow managed to hold it in as Gina continued.
"... You usually sit closer together!"
Xavier and I laughed relieved and scooted closer together.

The night went on as we ate. Antonio scooted closer to me with every sip of wine, with Xavier watching him with the eyes of a hawk. I deftly avoided the wine by... not drinking it (that sounded way smarter in my head). Around midnight we had finished our deserts and were getting ready to leave, when Antonio spoke to me for the first time all evening.
    "Luna, Luna, Bella Luna!"
I looked at him in surprise.
    "Moon, moon, beautiful moon?"
"Sí, and you are beautiful like the moon! The stars in the sky could not compare to the hypnotizing Zoë!"
    I stared at him shocked.
    "Ummm..."
"I see! Our love rendered you speechless! Do not taunt me with your red lips my darling!"
And he sprang at me. In an instant I had been knocked to the floor and was uncomfortably close to Antonio, and when I say uncomfortably close I mean I was completely squashed under him. A huge weight was on me, crushing me making it difficult to breathe. Suddenly it was gone, in fact everything was gone, until only Gina and Xavier's muffled shouts of my name remained.

    "Laura, Laura..."
It was nightfall. I waited in silence, hoping he would come. Suddenly a pair of strong but loving arms were around me. I turned around and without a moments hesitation kissed him full on the mouth. He kissed back with a fire that warmed my lips and made the world disappear. We stood there for what seemed like years, our bodies intertwined with one another. Finally we broke apart, and he spoke the whispered words I died to hear.
    "I love you Laura."
    "I love you to Trent."
    "Laura, Laura, Laura—"
    "ZOË!"

The world blurred into focus around me. I could make out Xavier's concerned face above me and not much else. Around I could hear the anxious drone of people silently chatting around me. Xavier's voice rang out again.
"Zoë, we need to get you back to the hotel."
He slowly helped me stand up as the world gradually came into focus. I saw Gina to my left kneeling next to the unconscious Antonio. A waiter was on my right staring in muted horror. Xavier slowly lead me past hordes of gaping people and into a tele-cab.

We arrived in our room battered and exhausted. I sat down on the bed and an awful feeling sunk into my stomach. I started to cry, I cried for the missions failure, I cried for the fate of my unborn child, I cried for everything and everyone. I cried till I ran out of tears and still I cried. Xavier sat down and wrapped his arms around me.
"It's going to be ok Zoë, everything's fine."
"How can you say that?" I managed to choke between sobs, "I blew the mission, Mrs Dubose is probably going to kill all five of us, our parents—"
And Xavier kissed me. Slowly my thoughts and fears melted away, I couldn't remember why I was crying or who I even was, all I knew was the kiss. After an eternity he broke off and looked at me.
    "It's going to be ok."
And suddenly we were the only people on Earth.
