Changed but Still the Same

Tina sounded pissed, but she wasn't the problem. We were safe, for tonight, and I was going to enjoy that.
"Psst! Quincy, is she gone?" I whispered.
"Yeah, and she'd of heard you if she wasn't," he laughed.
    "Sorry."
"Well, it's midnight-thirty. Whatcha wanna do?"
    "Midnight-thirty? Eh, let's talk."

Kylie had a lot of questions, and probably shouldn't have answered most of them. I wanted to tell her everything, but one problem stood out among the rest. I would tell her when she was ready, or maybe when I was ready. Ready to give this up.

    ???

Stupid girl. Just like the boy, so oblivious. As she drove home, she never noticed me following her. Not until it was too late. Stupid girl.

  2. WAT?!?! WHO IS THAT?!?!?!

  3. The suspense is killing meeeeee!

When I woke up, I realized how late it was.
"Crap! Oh well, I've missed enough school for one day to go unnoticed," I thought.
I looked up to see Quincy deep in thought. He seemed worried, I wonder why.
"Quincy?" I called, snapping him back to reality, "Is everything all right?"
"Of course. Well we missed school again, now that I think about it."
    "You looked worried."
"Yeah...hey maybe we get back before lunch ends! We'll have to hurry, though."
    "Okay..."

When I saw the crash, I knew they had come.
"Oh my gosh! That's Tina's car!" Kylie shouted, "Pull over!"
I had a bad feeling about this, but she sounded desperate. As soon as I stopped, we were out of the car and confronting the policeman.
"Hey, why aren't you kids in school!"
"We came home for lunch, officer. What happened here?" I lied smoothishly.
    "Why do you ask?"
"The car was one of my best friend's! We just fought yesterday and I thought she skipped school because of me!" Kylie screamed.
"Calm down Miss. The body isn't here, so your friend might have survived the crash."
I knew better. Everyone involved with either of us would be "borrowed" for questioning or evidence. I think it was time to tell Kylie.

I taking them out one by one, leaving warnings for #26 along the way. This was going to be fun.

  5. AAAGGGHHH!!!!!!!!

  6. NOOOOO!! KEEP GOING!

All throughout the school day, Quincy acted paranoid. Something was bugging him, something important.

Once we got back home, I sat Kylie down so I could tell her about our law.
"Kylie, we've been breaking a serious law. I've just recently seen the signs that we've been caught," I said.
Her eyes were so wide, I thought they would fall out of her head.
"Seriously? What have we been doing? Is there some kind of punishment for it?" she asked frantically.
    "We can't be together anymore."
    "What! Why not?"
I couldn't stand seeing her cry.
"Because I don't want to see you dead."

After I drove Kylie home, I went to see the council.
"Step forward and tell us your number," boomed the head-chairman.
"Number 26, I plead for an exception to one of our laws," I replied in a respective tone.
"All laws have purpose, we will not grant exceptions without reason. Guardian 26, please come forward and give your evaluation."
"Violence against mortals possessions, and intimacy with a mortal," reported the Guardian.
"Intimacy? All we did was kiss!"
"There is no need to raise your voice. Your case will be heard after the questioning of the witnesses takes place."
I was not to give up that easily.

  8. TELL US MORE!!!! oh and I like it

  9. Oooooh!! He's not mortal? This is getting juicy:)

  10. It is getting just MORE

Don't think I'm some kind of powerless, hopeless romantic. I'm actually very strong-willed. When Quincy left, though, I was nothing. I knew that he left for my safety, but not seeing him hurt deeply. You'd never guess that by looking at me, I still functioned normally.
"He's not coming back, get over it," I repeatedly told myself. I just couldn't.
    -------
Man, I suck at spying. Can't believe Kylie hadn't noticed me yet. All day I follow her around (I'm not trying to be creeper or anything), but at night I go to the council in hopes that the questioning was over.

Five days after my separation from Kylie, the head-councilman announced that David and Tina's questioning was finished. After I got the message, I immediately sped to the Campus.
"Step forward 26 and hear the witness report," called out the head-councilman.
My Guardian stepped out of the shadows and spoke in a monotonous voice, "Our witnesses report that they have no recollection of any bodily damage taken from Number 26. No serious damage was forced upon their possessions, either."
"Does this mean that you will grant an exception for me?" I asked cautiously.
"Possibly," the head-chairman whispered at the same time my Guardian said sternly, "No!"
    -------
    Guardian 26 (???)
No exceptions are made this easily. He would not have yet another one just handed to him. Why was I assigned to the head-chairman's nephew?
