UPDATE Chat Channel Updates

  1. Since we trying to protect kids why are we still protecting the right for ATA to keep designing half naked avatars, which are often sexually explicit. Then masking it under some cosplay isn’t consent movement bs. PLEEEEEEASE inform us what some of these avatars are cosplaying as? I’m a firm believer in revealing clothing doesn’t equal consent but I highly doubt a minor child will be wearing just an apron, cheeks out, holding a mixing bowl. The “sexy” avatars equates to more revenue for ATA. The half nude avatars has always been more costly and always had a higher demand. The whole consent and cosplay excuse is bullshit. Ya’ll literally do not care about the minors on the app, if you did you wouldn’t worry about the money in your pockets. Now we can sweep pedos looking for rp under the rug as they find a way to groom them in private. Good work ATA 🥳

  2. ‎Y'all made this more complicated than it needed to be OOF. Below are my suggestions and reasoning behind a few of them, but I figure most of this is already understandable. I'd be happy to provide more reasoning/context for my suggestions if needed!

‎Speaker cap and regen time(assuming current conditions):
‎-Cap needs to be drastically higher with more than two channels requiring them
‎-Faster regen, or no cap concerning how many channels there are now
‎-Campus shouldn't require speakers at all if solely general chat
‎-Orientation shouldn't use speakers bc that's just silly limiting aid new players can receive

    ‎Reduce number of channels:
‎-Campus for SU stuff and chats. SU stuff needs access to as many ppl as possible, so many posts wouldn't be as necessary.
‎-Exchange as separate chat is alright. I believe this is the only necessary addition and consistently asked for.
‎-Orientation not needed since players actively posting about other stuff can see and help newbies in Campus. I spontaneously help newbies when posting about my own stuff. New players would struggle to navigate all that and then getting potentially silence for asking for help in other channels would be unfair and discourage their continual playing.

‎Channel order and view(take into account my prior suggestion with this as I'm ignoring channels I don't think are necessary):
‎-Campus should be able to be muted if it's just for general chat. Sometimes I'm on briefly solely for admin work or trading, and it's annoying having to do extra swipes each time as these tasks are often time-sensitive tasks and require some concentration.
‎-Customizable ordering by players or have it make sense PLEASE. Broad to specific such as Campus -> Exchange -> Club

    ‎Censorship:
‎-Censorship extent is extreme and hypocritical given avis, but I suppose external pressures prevent a change on that aspect at least for the time being. I think I'll make further commentary in this as a separate response.

  3. Fro anyone who wishes to like this quoted reply, it is on Page 10

I like this. The only real difference between your and my suggested chat chanel distribution is you having the separate casual chat channel whereas I have casual chats ad game based requests in same chat channel still. I'm more concerned with speaker limit/regen as well as lag atm, so wanted fewer channels to mitigate those things through minimizing number of channels. I know some people mentioned chat speed, but I think having Exchange channel already aids with that

  4. After reading the comments, I really think chat order should be customizable, because everyone has different preferences. I didn’t personally like the layouts suggested by others, and they probably wouldn’t like mine either. A fixed order will never satisfy everyone, so being able to rearrange chats manually would make things much more convenient (and the ability to disable campus ofc).

Overall, I’m glad public spaces will no longer be flooded with weird requests, but there’s a thin line between improving the environment and simply banning everything. Right now, it feels closer to the second option.

Things like usernames/club names or silly joke arguments were never really a problem. What actually was annoying were endless detailed rp requests, account sales, bento sales, etc. I understand some things are difficult to moderate without strict rules, but at the same time, too many restrictions may once again kill communication in public chats. Before, some people (me lol) avoided pub because of excessive sexual content. Now people may stop talking because they’ll feel like almost anything could be treated as a violation.

I also agree with players saying it feels inconsistent to introduce extremely strict chat rules while still allowing borderline avis under the label of “cosplay”.

Personally, I don’t really care what fantasies or interests other adults have, as long as nothing illegal is involved. So the idea of a separate chat for people who are into rp and similar things honestly doesn’t sound that bad. Especially considering that people who aren’t interested in it could simply disable that chat. Well, ofc, with the condition that new players would need to complete the tutorial before getting access to that chat, not just pass age verification. Because a lot of people used to hide behind alts and endlessly spam certain kinds of content. And maybe the tutorial itself should also be updated to better reflect these new systems and changes.

Ofc I doubt major changes will happen because of comments like this, but I am worried that sudden and drastic decisions could negatively affect how many players stay active in the game.

    P. S. And I’m also very curious about the game’s stability, because if disabling chat only hides it visually while the client still continues receiving all the data from the server, then it won’t really help with lags.

  6. yeah definitely not a fan of mods threatening to ban people in orientation chat simply because they're not following the exact use of that chat (chit-chatting, not asking questions).

banning sexually explicit content is one thing but controlling how people speak, where they choose to speak and what they speak about is tyrannical & weird. and it's gona kill the vibe of the game entirely. i'm already seeing dead silence in some chats.

sexually explicit content, spamming banners etc is understandable but ?? mods should not be silencing people for simply chatting wherever they wish to.

  7. This is just confusing just go back to the old way

  8. Well, to be honest, I am not opposed against this update as others may be, because it helps build more organization, and prevents players from being exposed to explicit comments. For example, prior to this update, I personally found it annoying banners relating to buying or selling items, would constantly get buried with club links, so in this scenario, it builds structure because each section as it's own intended purpose without any distractions or off-topic conversations happening in general. As for the Pub section being gone, the advantage of that action is that certain players who may possibly be underage or sensitive to certain topics, won't have to see individuals posting their creepy fetishes or kinks. This helps stabilize and make the community more safer. People can still have conversations, but just in a different chat. Role-play is still permitted, but has to be through private conversations. Nothing major is necessarily being revoked here, but I do agree that it would be nice if we had the option to customize the arrangements or color theme of the chats, just to makes it convenient to access the most used chats quicker and for better eye comfort. Overall, I do like the intention behind it, but there is always room for altercations to be made.

  9. Everything except “underage or sensitive to certain topics, won't have to see individuals posting their creepy fetishes or kinks. This helps stabilize and make the community more safer. People can still have conversations, but just in a different chat. Role-play is still permitted, but has to be through private conversations.” I agree with. With pub being gone and with the limited things we can say creeps and horrible people will instead be sneaky and take advantage in private messages. As I said prior to this - removing ALOT of speech in public channels is detrimental to those who are let’s say underage as private messages won’t be taken into account for silences or bans because this way they can say & do a lot more there then to be silenced / make it known what they want in public. Makes it a lot more easier for nasty things to happen.

  10. Honestly, I feel this has been a big shock that came out of absolutely nowhere to a lot of people and feel it was handled too abrubtly. It has caused a lot of chaos, and honestly I think there should have been a new set of mod applications before this came out because I am seeing only a few mods at a time (I'm talking like 1-2) and I know it's a timezone thing but still. A lot of players, including myself, have been using a lot of speaker tokens to help out because this has been a LOT put on the mods at once and they still have their own lives. There should have been an announcement stating there would be changes, even if you couldn't specify what changes. A lot of players are outraged and taking it out on the mods. This should have been handled differently. But, what's done is done and I really recommend reading a lot of the player feedback because there still needs to be some changes made. All in all, this is not a bad change, just poorly executed and have stressed a lot of people out unnecessarily. Stay strong, mods 🩷

  11. a casual chat channel would definitely help with the current traffic in both ORIENTATION and CAMPUS. i also would prefer they let us post anything, that isn't against TOU, in there (Casual/Lounge chat) such as trade, club, or RS related banners since it'd be the channel for chatting and those are in-game topics etc... as long as the banners aren't being spammed i see no issue with that.

it's gonna be wild af if everyone is getting silenced for silly stuff like that when it's not against TOU just because they posted in two different channels / "incorrect" channel. that's incredibly unfair to the players and also makes more unnecessary work for the Devs and team members in the TOU department. it also creates more work for Mods who already do so much and don't even get paid. players will feel like they can't speak without getting in trouble for simply 'breathing' or that the bloated traffic in chats is unviable for gameplay. trivia is gonna be.... interesting....

currently they should scrap UNION, and scrap ORIENTATION or make Orientation the 'new CAMPUS'.

i like @limoncello 's idea on customizing the order in which our channels appear so everyone has an easier time playing that fits their preference.

however, i'd vote y'all default ORIENTATION/CAMPUS in slot #1 for the actual new players coming in so it's right there for them without any confusion about what channel they should be in as noobs. and to reiterate myself, " *allow players to unstar any of their channels except Club and only let noobs unstar Orientation/Campus if they're done with noob quests/ tutorial mode."

another thing players pointed out is they want to be able to post LBH at their current club in the corresponding Channel using the click-hold club speaker without it eating their personal Speaker Tokens. that would be incredibly helpful for clubs doing potd and Propotd. players shouldn't have to give up their personal tokens to ask for party help. there's also no risk for spam in this regard, since there's always been a cooldown for how many times this feature can be used.

i myself and others have also suggested increasing the amount of speaker tokens we get at minimum which is currently only 25.

i hope the team is still taking suggestions and feedback at this time. ☺️

  12. It would be helpful to be able to reorder chats manually. Being able to arrange conversations based on how I use them would make navigation much more efficient.

As it stands now I'd even get rid of campus to have my club chat and tutor chat next to each other again but we can't.

  13. I want to be able to turn campus off. 🫩 and just give the people what they want with allowing them to drag and drop their own order preference for channels. I personally love club first cause I don’t need to sift through garbage to get to it but appease the masses asking for their own personalization of feeds. I also think it’s funky you’re making friend requests, RS requests, and RP requests go dirty up the “club channel”, but then say that in your main post so it’s clear to the people that it’s a catch all and not just for club things cause it’s confusing.

  15. I like the changes and if they r able to implement it fully.it would be great for the under 18 AND above 18 those who just want to play game.

  16. I support the idea behind this update, however it was extremely abrupt.

Nonetheless, I can see why it was done and hope that people take the time to properly read as well as try to understand properly why it was implemented. Not to mention, if it becomes overwhelming, they can always pick and choose the channels they view.

  17. Allow Campus mute if its gonna be this annoying to chat.

  20. Thanks so much for the feedback, everyone.

An update to be able to reorder chat channels and more easily navigate between them is on our list, we'll get that out as soon as we can.

We're considering all the other feedback, so please keep it coming.
