    Hi folks!
As you may have heard, we’ve been continuing work on a Dorm Tower Rebalance, and we wanted to share an update on where things currently stand.

Improvements to the Dorm Tower experience are something we’ve been exploring for quite some time. Over the past while, a number of players have helped through earlier tests and feedback as we’ve worked to better understand how these systems feel across different stages of progression. Dorm Tower progression touches a lot of different parts of the game, so we wanted to be thorough about how we approach these changes rather than rushing them out too early.

When we ran a beta test last year for a set of Dorm Tower changes, it gave us a lot of valuable information. Because the game has continued to change in the last year, we've had to make sure the Dorm Tower changes reflect that, and the best way to do that is to put a new version in the hands of our players to test once again.

We’re excited to finally start testing this updated version more thoroughly. The goal of this next phase is to help us validate whether the new Dorm Tower feels better in practice, understand how the changes land across different stages of progression, identify issues early, and reduce the risk of launching something that doesn’t feel right for the game and the community.

How to Participate in the Private Beta

We’ll be sharing a sign-up form via startup shortly after this announcement has been made for players who are interested in participating in the upcoming private beta. From that sign-up sheet, the PIMD team will select a group of players to help test this version of the Dorm Tower Rebalance.

Keep an eye out for the sign-up form soon if you’re interested in being considered for the beta!

Why We’re Working on Dorm Tower Progression

We believe Dorm Tower is an important part of what makes the early PIMD experience feel immersive and rewarding. Given that it is one of the core pillars of player progression, we feel that thoughtful improvements here can help create a stronger early-game experience, encourage deeper interaction with the game, and support long-term engagement for both new and existing players.

Dorm Tower progression touches a lot of different parts of the game, so we want to be careful before moving forward. As mentioned above, running another private beta gives us a chance to validate our assumptions, gather a wider range of perspectives, look for potential issues or exploits, and make adjustments before releasing it to the rest of the PIMD community!

    What We’re Trying to Improve

    tl;dr

Our goal is to make Dorm Tower progression feel more rewarding, more understandable, and more worthwhile at each step!

    In detail, we aim to:
    • Make sure each Dorm Tower Level feels worth it to unlock and upgrade with Roomies
    • Lower the incentive to skip intermediate upgrades
    • Bring more excitement and satisfaction with each upgrade
    • Create a more enjoyable experience for new and mid-game players, where the progression is easier to understand
    • Give players more meaningful stat and plunder progression as their accounts grows

    What’s Being Tested

The exact details are still subject to change, but the current version being tested includes:
    • Lower dorm room unlock costs for the majority of players
    • Boosting early-game stats to help newer and lower-level players participate in a wider variety of club activities, while preserving the advantages and progression of max-level player stats
    • Dorm mate costs that better support both leveling and tiering
    • Increased plunder for most players
These changes are not final. The private beta is one step in the process to help us understand what’s working, what’s not, and what may need more adjustment before anything moves forward and is released.

    What’s Next

Nothing in this beta is final. This test is part of an ongoing process, and the results will help shape what happens next. Once the beta is complete and we’ve had time to review what we learned, we’ll share another update with the community on where things stand and what the next steps look like.

We want to thank everyone for their patience while we continue working through these changes. We know Dorm Tower progression is an important part of the game experience, and we’re excited to get the final version into players’ hands once we’re confident it’s in the right place. Once this part is done, it will allow us to work on additional areas of progression players care about so we hope you’re as excited as we are!

  2. Perhaps add in how much mcs they’ll grow by for each dorm mate or upgrade. Incentivise upgrading. I don’t recall ever upgrading dorm mates. I probably will after I get my dorm mates to all t14 🥹
