Sacrifice. Jesus was and is the ultimate sacrifice. He gave up His whole life for us and would do it again. In my work, I made a desert background to represent that even when we feel alone (ie in the middle of the desert, and lost) He will be there. No matter how we feel. In the depths of feeling like we should give up and we have no way forward, we do. We always do. Through and with Jesus. Because of His sacrifice. (This is my personal beliefs. No harm if you don’t believe or feel the same.)
" Virgin Sacrifice " “They made her a martyr for their madness.” ... “Even innocence can bleed for the unholy.” ... To an outsider’s eyes, the sacrifice walks forward with quiet courage , a figure of resolve, almost noble in their surrender. But to the cult that watches, that same step is drenched in desire , driven by greed, lust, and a hunger for forbidden power that corrodes the soul and snuffs out all light. For one offers their life to the divine, while the others offer theirs to damnation. ... Made with watercolours and gouache paint.
*Trigger Warnings : Firearm , Implied Assault / Abuse , Visual of Person in Distress ... Spoiler Theme No. 3 : "SACRIFICE" As is with other concepts, "sacrifice" can mean (and represent) a vast number of thoughts, emotions, and ideologies among us, all. And, like everything, it can tend to be positive, or negative... With this in mind, I've chosen to make "Forced Conversion" as the subject of my piece. Forced conversion , historically, occurred when an individual or a collective is mandated to adopt a religion, foreign to him/it; or, to abandon his/its existing beliefs. In the case of the latter, the individual or a collective could be obligated to completely renounce his/its faith. He/it could also be compelled to take a religion on; should it be deemed that there is a "lack of it". Personally, as I learnt more about forced conversion, it became more evident to me that it is no longer exclusive to religious oppression/suppression. It has branched out to encompass so much more, in today's society. That was I wanted to feature in my work here... How this "conversion" can forcibly strip someone, both literally and figuratively--being made to sacrifice his/her/their identity, dignity, beliefs and ideologies. All under the guise of achieving "freedom and enlightenment"... For a "guarantee" of security and safety from persecution... To get "help" they need... Or, just to gain the acceptance of others. However, if one takes a very close look: Not everything what it seems. (Easter Egg!) And, certainly, not for the better. As is my preference , I utilised cold-pressed watercolour paper; as well as a variety of fountain pen inks.
Biologically, after laying eggs and while caring for their young, a flamingo's feathers can fade because the pigments are used to produce milk (the baby's food). Literally, she gives up a part of herself—her color, her beauty, her energy—so that her young can live. This makes her a symbol of tender, loving sacrifice for the sake of life. "True beauty lies not in what one possesses, but in what one gives." Spoiler: Layers
Super out of practice and it shows 😮💨 Spoiler: Procsss gif My interpretation: This piece represents the act of sacrifice in letting go of what could have been -- something like letting go of an ambitious dream for the sake of innocence -- a child. Not very halloween, but the word 'sacrifice' still comes to mind more when it comes to 'mothers'. She releases her crown, a symbol of status and pride, while holding a glowing child-like figure. It’s a quiet moment of strength, showing that real sacrifice often means choosing the heart over glory.
It's OUR Turn Now Sacrifice, goats, and humans; somehow correlate to one another. It's always been us who sacrifice the goats to certain rituals. Now it's their turn.
The pictures are having a hard time uploading again, so I'll also post the link here PIMD Drawtober 2025 Prompt 3: Sacrifice https://imgur.com/gallery/pimd-drawtober-2025-prompt-3-sacrifice-xJmu9ec Explaination: I was rewatching The Corpse Bride recently, and figured I should redraw this scene in my own stylized version for this prompt. Emily wanted to marry Victor, but she realized that what she was asking of him wasn’t right. He was willing to give up his life and spend the rest of eternity with her, but she stopped him from drinking the poison so he could be with his actual love and live the life he wanted. In this scene, Emily was sacrificing her own happiness for the good of Victor and Victoria’s relationship. She loved Victor, but she knew deep down that this was what she had to do. This selfless act was one of the things that always stuck with me after watching the movie, and it all almost felt like it was bittersweet when her spirit was finally able to rest.
*no kitties were harmed in the process* Week 3: Photography- The Sacrificial Kitty Who uh, by the time I noticed my ign did not show up in this lighting, was less than cooperative. Spoiler: he was over it Spoiler: So here is some additional proof Of some of the photo editing, and where I added my ign. And of the subject in question. This took a while. There was much trickery invovled (like the box 🤭). The crunchy leaves were very enticing. Shot and edited on my Samsung Note 20. Lightroom and ibis paint for photo editing. "Blood" and the stuffed heart are handmade of felt by me. The cat is Squeak, aka Fluffy. ❤️
https://imgur.com/a/wQkg6zI The word, “sacrifice” can evoke a complex mix of emotions. This includes frustration, pain, pride, anger, disgust, surprise and acceptance. “Sacrifice” is one word. Yet it holds so much power. So much thinking. So much history. So much interpretation. It can be dark. It can be beautiful. I was inspired to draw faces with emotions that are up for interpretation. I drew each face to encompass a mix of feelings that sacrifice can evoke ☺️.

This entry of mine is inspired by many signs and beliefs of misfortune around the world. Since there's a bunch of countries, I choose to go by continents and my top three pick were Asia, America, and Europe. The picture with the broom has signs of misfortune in Asia. Broom: in many Asian countries, it is considered bad luck to sweep the floor on holidays or certain religious time. Blue fan: in South Korea, sleeping inside a room with a fan is considered bad luck. Pink bowl of rice: in China, sticking your chopsticks is very disrespectful and can bring bad luck. Whistling: in many Asian countries, whistling at night is believed to attract bad spirits or ghosts. The picture with the cat has signs of misfortune in America. Black cat: mainly in north America, black cats are considered bad luck and correlate to witchcraft or witches. Person & ladder: it brings bad luck to walk under a ladder. 666: it correlates to/symbolizes the devil. Calender: the date Friday the 13th is considered bad luck mainly in the US. The picture with the Magpie has signs of misfortune in Europe. Magpie: in the UK, seeing a magpie on certain time periods is considered bad luck. Glasses: toasting to glasses of water is considered bad luck in Germany. (Oh and make sure to look the partner you're toasting to in the eyes otherwise you'll have many years of bad s*x). Upside down baguette: lol ik it doesn't look like one but in France, putting down a baguette upside down on a table bring bad luck. Hands & salt: in some European countries, it is believed to bring bad luck if you lend salt to your neighbors. To summarize, it might bring me misfortune putting a lot of bad omens in these pictures for this theme. I'm gonna knock on hardwood and hope that's not the case bcs now more than ever, I need luck 😭
