ATA, it's beautiful, but this feels like a cash grab. Getting 7 avatars before even being able to access the story pass is too much money. The furniture is beautiful, as well as that final avatar. But the way you have to go about it to access them is pretty upsetting 😔

When I first started pimd you were much more involved with the community @ATA. You encouraged us to help each other, interacted with us more. Had fun fresh ideas (which yes ik you've been open as an app a long time and sometimes things will get recycled but this is more than that) you promised to listen to your community and in the beginning you did just that. We had community wars, we were able to vote on things and even had lots of opportunities to submit our own designs for avi and then later when furniture was introduced dorm ideas. I have watched you turn a once helpful community of people trying to help one another into pay to win players and people addicted to leaderboards and gambling on your boxes such as buddy boxes, furniture gimmicks, the new lucky boxes, the new ability boxes and so much more. You have added party after party that we have to pay into share with our friends (or solo which ever the dropper is going for) but you have yet to add new NONPAID parties. You have not fixed the parties we have. You keep adding things (some of which are fun) but then you ignore the other things the community is constantly telling you they dislike. We used to be able to talk to devs and mods and interact well with them and there are still some good mods who help whenever they can. While other mods take advantage of their positions and have devs out here passive aggressively tearing players down for their honest and VALID criticism. You silence us for things against tou (which is fine it's a rule) but then allow Devs to mention third party apps in campus which is in fact against tou and many of us would be silenced for. You release more tiers to our stat dorms but then continue not to fix the issues with upgrading that still exists. You then turn around and build a beta that is supposed to fix these things with stats but instead of focusing on that release new cat parties that AGAIN you have to pay for to do. It's not that you have things behind a pay wall it's that you take our money time after time Jack the prices up while giving us old recycled avis, furniture, hunts and spit in our faces when we tell you we don't appreciate the disrespect. I have watched this game become flooded with nothing but ec clubs, players who become 300+mcs in a year while others of us DEDICATED players have been here for years trying to help one another for what? So we can be told sorry if you aren't spending the money you aren't worth the time. This is how all of this reads to your community AND to the people who have been spending money on here. You have brilliant designers and I know you have brilliant people on your staff so stop jacking us around like we don't see you. Because we are here eyes wide and we are tired. Hear us or watch your game fail even more than it's starting to now. Also maybe get new devs if you can't give them some customer service training because the devs and your mods shouldn't be just as toxic as the bad parts of the community. But I'm just a fox and that's just my opinion. Do better

A parent company (in this case, Embracer Group) doesn't necessarily mean that ATA is no longer Canadian and that PIMD isn't a Canadian-based game. However, I hadn't heard about this parent company purchase before, and Googled it to look into it. Apparently ATA laid off a substantial amount of employees last year, possibly because of Embracer Group who were doing en masse layoffs. I wonder if this parent company taking over, the parent company instigating layoffs and therefore giving less staff devs to work on new content and existing content (layoffs in basically every department), and the large increase recently in "cash grabs," back-to-back invite hunts and shard avis, et cetera is connected. ATA has less staff members to work on keeping things running and keeping new content fresh and the parent company is probably adding on heat to keep this game super profitable. Staff spread thin make tensions and stress run high, a community has reached its boiling point, and you get an incident like what happened today. It all adds up. Capitalism at its finest.
Well, I hope that regardless of whether or not the apology is genuine at this time (I always like to give benefit of the doubt, however I don't know exactly what was said) that some reflection takes place. I think an attempt at a private apology is a good step in the right direction though. Hopefully we see some positive changes taking place soon in dev + community relations and that we can move past this and grow.

I didn't read the room AT ALL when I made the joke and I didn't mean to make fun of something that was pretty important to you and the community as a whole. I was too quick to say what I thought was a light poke without realizing how serious the situation and feedback was. That's 100% on me and I'm sorry. iZelda: Although I appreciate you taking the time to reach out and apologize to me, I would like to point out the fact that you only did so after mocking the situation in campus and after receiving backlash from multiple people in the forums. Yes, I do admit that I was "crashing out" over the forums, but I was in real time realizing that you would have spend around $130 USD to even get the story started for the boxes. I gave criticism because the more this game goes on, the more money hungry features are added and you decided it was a joke. I don't understand what's funny about an event costing so much and people being upset by it. Marceline: No that's totally fair. Again, I didn't realize how bad it was, so truly an idiotic move on my part when my job is to be advocating for yall. I think its technically cool how the entire dorm room together looks like one single swirlie AI generated image blended together, but then when you see each piece of furniture by itself it’s quite a feat how well they blend in so you can’t quite tell. A lot of AI image generators aren’t as good at blending, using GAN to correct models, and would result in AI hallucinations. But your event room has no imperfections and its amazing how neat this was technically pulled off. Great job on the technical artwork and creativity for the room. This reads to me like a pretty decent apology, but of course that's just my opinion and I like to give benefit-of-the-doubt like I said. Just got to watch for the follow-through now either way.
