Valentine’s Day is hands-down my favorite holiday. It’s all about love, good vibes, and way too much chocolate, which is exactly how it should be. I love swapping gifts and treats with my friends, making everyone feel a little extra special. There’s just something about giving someone a box of chocolates or a cute little gift and seeing them smile, it’s the best. It’s not even just about romance, it’s about celebrating all the people you love in your life. Honestly, it’s just a feel-good day wrapped in sweetness, and I’m here for it every single year.
Favorite holiday memory for me was actually from Thanksgiving. Which is surprising cause it's my least favorite of all the holidays. Either way, I was about ten years old. My mom had just pulled the turkey out of the oven and had set it on the dinner table to cool. Out of nowhere she gets this bright idea to copy something we had seen on TV. She decided to see if me, the 100lb ten year old would be able to hold up her weight. Basically a trust exercise. She learned not to trust me that day thought. Lol. She leaned on me and within five seconds I said nah not gonna work and rn out from underneath her. I gave her zero warning on this. Of course she fell flat on her booty but in her fall she grabbed the corner of the dinner table. This caused the dinner table to start rocking and our freshly out the oven, and VERY hot turkey fell off the table and almost landed right on her face. Funniest memory ever. I miss her.
My favorite holiday memory is from Valentine's day. My family celebrated valentine's day as a day for all love, not just romantic, so we would often have a meal all together with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents and all the kids. One year, my grandma's sisters and kids came for a surprise visit from France (to the US), and somehow we had all kept it a secret from grandma. My grand parents owned a restaurant, and because it was all decorated for the holiday, my grandma barely paid any attention to the giant paper heart my grandpa had constructed- even if it was blocking one of the doors to the patio. She was too busy running around getting ready for service, and since her children worked with her, they were all able to keep an eye and make sure she didn't investigate the situation too much throughout the night. I was young and curious, so I did of course. But there was nothing particularly interesting to note on the patio when I did. Imagine my surprise when hours later, after the last service of the day, the whole family was in the middle of toasting to a meal together- my great aunts and some cousins smashed out of the heart! My grandma shrieked with surprise and joy! We all ran over for hugs and kisses. I don't remember much else about the meal, or the day, or even that year- but I never forgot the familial love and happiness we all shared at that moment.
My favorite holiday is always gonna be Christmas. It's the only time of the year that I can be off work for a reasonable amount of time and actually be with my family and closest friends to end the entire year. Not to mention it bridges to the next year at new year's eve 😂 really a corporate slave's paradise and favorite.
favorite holiday memory? i remember one year when our dad got us each a big box as kids we were soooo excited what it could be and there was each a family sized bag of chips.. thanks dad I will never forget this
My favorite holiday is Halloween! 🎃 My favorite Halloween memory was from a Halloween costume party my fiance and I hosted it was the first party we ever hosted together in our 6 years of dating so we did our best to go all out. We had decorations special "ghost shots" which was basically a shot roulette and a huge hit. We cooked 2 different types of tacos and he made his families specialty chicken heart skewers!! I made pigs in a blanket for appetizers and a main drink mix for the adults. We even had the hallway to our restroom fully decked out in lights and themed wallpaper. Basically we tried really hard. Throughout the night I did not often get to talk to my fiance and towards the end of the night I wanted to check in with him since we were both is host mode and had been chatting with family and friends. However when I went to ask him to join me in the room for a private discussion my parents and best friend rushed me and him outside. It turns out they all had been covering up that he had planned to propose to me that night!! In front of all of our closest family and friends he made his speech and actually forgot to ask the question and the whole crowd had to remind him that he had to ask. Bless his heart lol but yeah that's my favorite memory of my favorite holiday.
My favorite Christmas memory was in 2022 with my kids in Oklahoma I had been working all year long and I was able to get all the things my kids wanted and able to get me some things as well. I drove to Texas and visited my family who I hadn't seen in years
Christmas Eve 2018 I got a FaceTime call at 4am it was my best friends so I answered the call and right away they start singing Christmas Carols in our language which immediately made me laugh and start singing along. It was my first Christmas away from my island home so getting that call made that Christmas Special to me. That is my favorite holiday memory
Every year, our family would celebrate Christmas together. We would start decorating the house early in December, and the atmosphere would be filled with anticipation and excitement. Everyone would pitch in with putting up the tree, hanging ornaments, and stringing up lights. On Christmas Eve, we would all gather around the fireplace, sipping hot cocoa and singing carols together. The house would be filled with warmth and laughter. And then, on Christmas morning, we would all wake up early to exchange gifts. The living room would look like a winter wonderland with brightly colored wrapping paper, bows, and ribbons strewn across the floor. Everyone would take turns opening their gifts, and the sound of laughter and joy would fill the air. Then, we would sit down for a big family dinner, a feast that my mom had spent days preparing. The house would smell like roast turkey, and we would eat until we couldn't move. Those days were some of the most magical times of my life.
My favorite holiday memory was the Christmas holiday I got the chance to prepare and pass out gifts to less fortunate children in low income communities. It was so fun to help spread that Christmas joy and to see the smiles on their faces it just warmed my heart and brought me joy as well.
My favorite holiday moment was when I was little, and mi abuelita would prepare Christmas dinner. My mom doesn't celebrate Christmas due to her religious beliefs, but when I was 7, mi abuelita still wanted to include me in the celebration (she and my dad didn’t share my mom’s views) even though my mom didn’t want to be present, thinking back on how my grandmother was, how much she did for her family, and the love she poured into that celebration fills me with joy. I miss the cake she used to make for those special occasions. My grandma truly loved her family, and I had the chance to enjoy all her love during the time I was her only granddaughter. I’m Chilean, and in my country, Christmas is celebrated differently. I was only able to experience that moment once, and it was with one of the people I loved most when she was with me. She is no longer with us, but moments like that make me miss her while also feeling grateful for all she taught me through her actions and words. I love you and i miss you so so much mi viejita! 🥹❤️ Happy Holidays to everyone. 💚🎄❤️
My favourite holiday memory is during Chinese New Year back when my grandmother was still alive. She gave birth to a whooping 15 kids so every year during Chinese New Year everyone would gather at my uncle’s place and there would be lots and lots of gambling and of course the crazy number of red packets 😂 It’s crazy, I have cousins twice my age and nephews older than me
My favorite holiday memory is not surprisingly tied to Christmas. It’s of me at maybe ten years old, and my mom, laying under the Christmas tree and looking up at the star through the branches and little pine leaves. We hung little glittery icicle ornaments down there and when we came up together, we were so covered in glitter that our hair was shiny going into new years. That always brings a smile to my face, it was definitely simpler days. I still love decorating, but that one evening just really sticks with me
My My favorite holiday memory is one year all I wanted was a pair of moon shoes after seeing them in the holiday magazine. (Moon shoes are like trampoline shoes hahah) I went to go see Santa and I asked him for these moon shoes AND on Christmas Eve I left him a letter saying I REALLLYY wanted these moon shoes. Christmas morning I opened my first gift and THERE THEY WERE, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVERRR.
I remember visiting a particular church for a New Year’s Eve service as a teenager. Boy, were those pack of Nigerians an especially passionate bunch! There was alternation between songs(I recall tambourines which I don’t get to see too often!) and Bible-based commentary on the stars being connected to our destiny. The many invitations to shouting/hollering to claim one’s destiny were accepted by much of the attendees, making it such an invigorating and motivational event. My family and I walked out that service sweating and tired as if we danced for the entire previous year. Looking at the fireworks in the sky as we drove back home. We certainly got that year started on the right foot…and a workout. 😂
My holiday was Flores de Mayo, it's a festival marked by prayers and flowers for the Blessed Virgin Mary and was held in the Philippines on the month of May. For context: my birth month is May and I absolutely adore flowers ever since im a child. Quite a few years ago, Nanay Pita, my wise and loving grandmother, promised to take me to our town's grand Flores de Mayo celebration as her birthday gift for me and she knows how much flowers cheered me up. She had been bedridden for months, weakened by stage 4 ovarian cancer. She's too old and weak for chemo so our family decided for her to just stay at home and not spend her last days in a hospital. On the eve of the fiesta, Nanay summoned her last bits of strength, her eyes sparkling with determination. "Nak, let's go to the Santacruzan tomorrow ha? I want us to see the flowers and the blessed Virgin one last time." The next morning, Nanay made me wear my best dress and carefully crafted a simple but beautiful wreath flower crown for the both of us. As we joined the procession, the scent of jasmine and roses filled the air. We had to walk and there were a lot of people so Nanay's frail hands held mine tightly. When we reached the church, Nanay struggled to stand. With a gentle smile, she guided my hands to the rosary. Tears streaming down her face, she whispered to me, "Pray for me, anak. Pray for my soul." As the procession ended, Nanay's strength faded. We helped her to our home, where she lay down, surrounded by loved ones. The next Flores de Mayo, I returned to the procession alone, clutching Nanay's now fragile flower crown. Tears fell as I remembered her faith and love. Now the flowers seemed to bloom with a deeper meaning. I know this isn't the typical fun holiday me mory, but this one's my favourite. My grandma spent her last moments fulfilling her promise to me. Though it's fine if she didn't, she doesn't have to but she did. Flores de Mayo is on May which is my birth month, flowers are my favourite, and it's when I strongly feel Nanay's love for me.
One of my favorite holiday memories was visiting the mountains with my family. The crisp air, towering trees, and serene landscapes created a magical atmosphere. We stayed in a cozy cabin, shared stories by the fireplace, and enjoyed homemade meals together. One morning, we woke early to watch the sunrise over the peaks—an unforgettable sight that painted the sky in hues of gold and pink. It was a time of pure connection, peace, and joy, leaving me with cherished memories.
My fav holiday memory was when I was 13 I found a cat (or a cat found me) and I had been sneaking it into my house (my parents said no pets) and feeding it. It has been weeks of me getting it a bowl for food outside. Making a lil box and blanket a shelter. And ofc many cuddles and love. On Christmas morning that year I woke up and it was pouring rain . I was so upset as I knew I had no excuse to go outside. But I knew Lucky (as I called him) was probably cold and wet. As I started downstairs, I heard my dad say, “wait,” I paused, and he said: “He’s already inside.” I was like “who?!” My mom walked to the bottom of the stairs with bowls that said “Lucky.” And they said, “Merry Christmas.” And that’s how I got my first cat - or how my cat got me. Guess who was under the tree. ♥️🐈 Lucky.
My favorite Christmas memory is when I got to go home after months of working in another city and saw my sister, who had come back from college. Sitting together, sharing stories, and decorating the tree reminded me how much I missed these simple, joyful moments with my family. 🙂↕️♥️
Last year was my favorite Christmas. My daughter was just over 3 years old and was finally understanding the concept of Santa and she was so excited. It's fun to see the magic of the holidays through young eyes. This year I'm spending Christmas in the hospital unfortunately recovering from a major surgery so I'm holding onto the memories from last year. 💓
