Lily and James Emily and Shaun Turquoise eyes watched a man from underneath the surface of the lake. The man was in his early twenties, with curly, bright red hair, brown eyes, and a freckled, pale complexion. The eyes watched with a strange wonder. The creature attached to these eyes had never seen a being such as this. The man had the same upper body as one of her people, but instead of a fin, it had two stubby growths from its hips. The man had two more like him around. "Lily.!" a voice hissed. The creature whipped around in the water. "Lily, what in the name of Triton do you think you're doing so close to humans.?!" the other screamed. "Calm down, Shona. I was only looking." Lily explained, trying to calm her sister down. Shona's emerald eyes still had a twinge of worry in them, but her voice was stern. "Lily, if mother found out..." she trailed off. "Then don't let her.!" Lily said, her young charm hinting in her voice. "Lily, you're only twenty. You're still a child." Shona said. "I know, Shona. But I wasn't mating with him or anything." Lily laughed. A smile played on Shona's lips. "I don't know, Lily. You looked a little wierd there for a second." Lily looked back up to the man, that same wonder in her eyes. The man looked down into the water, his eyes searching. Then his eyes found hers. They opened wide with shock, then relaxed into curious slits. Their eyes locked for a few minutes, but when Shona saw them, she yanked Lily further under, out of eyeshot. After a furious scolding by Shona, Lily was dragged back home. The lake was deep, about five miles all together. Their kingdom was only about three down, with the prison on the fourth. No one knew for sure what was in the fifth, but there were some crazy stories about it. Some said that it was just open water, while others said that a monster dwelled there. Lily and Shona's parents, the king a queen of the mer-people, discouraged the stories about the monster. The people would exaggerate to no end about it, making up frightening tales to misbehaving children. They said the monster would sweep through the town by day, when everyone slept, and it would steal and eat all the naughty children. Even as the day grew dim, the man was on Lily's mind. When the moon had risen, Lily went to find Shona. "C'mon, sis. Let's go out for a bit." Lily persuaded.
Ignore the names at the beginning. I need a new title for this. I needed one so i thought up Fins because its about mer-people. Dont worry its not really a kid story
With some hesitation, Shona ventured out with Lily. As Lily swam up and to the shore, Shona stopped. "Lily. I know where you're going. I'm not going to let you go." Lily's shoulders sank. "Shona, you're my sister. I don't want to go alone. Please.? For Triton's sake learn to live a little." Shona sighed. "I'll go most of the way. The rest, you're on your own. I'll go back down when I see that you aren't in danger." Lily nodded. "Thank you." "Lily, I swear one day, your curiosity will get you hurt..." Shona warned. Lily shook it off. They swam quickly and silently towards the shore. The sight of the two of them together was interesting. They were so contrasting, yet so alike. Shona's short blonde hair and fair skin was so different from Lily's long black hair and natural tan. Their slim frames and the colors of their eyes and their tails were similar, which is rare, especially for siblings. When they got closer to the shore, Shona popped her head out of the water and, after a quick scan, gave Lily the go. Lily shot up out of the water, and Shona hissed in frustration. When would the child learn.? Showing off her fins. Shona left her sister to the moonlight. Lily enjoyed being out at night. She sat on a rock half in and half out of the water, combing through her hair with her fingers. Her hair went down to the bottom of her rib cage, covering her bare chest. She heard a twig snap in the woods on the edge of the lake, and her head snapped in the direction of it, lowering herself mostly in the water. The moon permitted her to see a glob of red curly hair, and she relaxed. She pulled herself back on the rock, this time facing the man. He stopped when he saw her, then he slowly walked towards her. She stiffened as he came closer, she had never interacted with humans before, and her mother warned her about them. He walked to the rock, when he was about knee-deep in the water. "Hello." he said, his voice soft. "Hi." Lily replied. "I'm Lily." "James." the man said, extending his hand. Lily stared curiously at it, confused at what to do. He laughed. "Shake it." he said, taking her hand. She shook, and he smiled. She cowered down, and pulled away from him. "Hey. Relax, it's just a smile. A sign of affection i suppose." She straightened up, and her lips pulled back over her teeth, managing a deranged looking smile. James laughed. And she joined him. "What does it feel like, having legs.?" Lily asked. "Well it's normal for me, but it takes balance. You want to see what it's like on land.?" he offered, holding out his arms. She nodded, and he picked her up gently. His arms were strong, and she traced the muscle with her slender fingers. He chuckled slightly, and she looked embarrassed. He set her down on a rock, and she breathed in the night air. Then she took a sharp breath inward, cluthing her tail. "Lily.! What's wrong.?!" James asked frantically. Her tail split in half, and her scales dissolved, leaving her with a pair of legs. They were toned and muscular, and they matched her tanned complexion. James turned his head away quickly. And Lily started freaking out. She tried getting up and running away, but instead fell to the ground. James tried helping her up, but she shoved him away. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME.?!?" she screamed, scrambling towards the water. "Lily.! Lily.!!" James screamed. "Lily I did nothing to you.!! I swear.!" Lily stopped screaming, and stared at him with wide eyes. "Let me help you back into the water. Maybe that will help." James said. She hesitantly let him pick her up and put her back in the water. She felt a prickle in her legs, and her turquoise scales shoved their way through her skin. Her legs glued together, and she darted away, heading for home as quick as she could. She stopped. James. She looked back towards the shore. She looked around. James could only watch as the girl left. He stood there, knee-deep in the water, and stared as she darted off.
I'm not going to be on for the rest of this week, but keep going, I will read all the updates when I get back from my camp
"Shona.!" Lily called out when she got home. Shona swam out of her room. "Lily. You're back. How did it go.?" "Oh Shona.! It was amazing.! He's a real human.!" "Well I knew that, Lily. I mean what happened.?" Shona said, rolling her eyes. "Well we talked mostly. Then something wierd happened. I got out of the water and-" "What happened, Lily.?" "I grew legs. Like a human." "You WHAT.?!" "It hurt, and I couldn't walk, but it was cool." Shona looked a bit shaken. "Okay. Alright. What else happened.?" "He kissed me." Shona's eyes opened wide. "Oh my gosh, Lily.! You let him.?" Lily nodded and smiled. "I like him, Shona." "But Lily, you're just a child." "So are you, but many suitors have kissed you." "That's different, Lily. All of my suitors are mer-people. Like us. You know what would happen if mother found out..." "Like I said, don't let her." Lily said. Shona sighed. Lily smiled. She knew she had won her sister over.
Thankss. Just a random idea that popped into my head when i was watching X-Games. Or commercials lol. Thats where i got the description for James
Lily started meeting James at night on a daily basis. He taught her how to walk and she taught him how to swim. Each night he left her with a kiss. When Lily came home one night, she over heard her parents talking.
