Help me decide

Dogs are needy, even when it's pouring rain or freezing or hot as hell, they still want their walk. And they never leave you alone, always in your face.
Cats are assholes, but they're just being true to their nature. Their little fangs are adorable when they yawn.

You can leave them alone for a night or long weekend, and they don't care at all as long as you leave then enough food and water out and a clean box.

Whichever you want but dogs are more needy. Also, cats can be very needy don't assume if you get a cat it won't be. They won't need like walks and stuff but they will need you around a lot. Some ppl disappear for a weekend and assume their cat will be fine but they can easily get depressed and a lot of cats have separation anxiety. It's better to have someone come visit them a few times during the days you'll be gone. You're their family and they miss you.

 

I’ve had both at the time so I can’t properly answer this because they were both great pets.

Most cats are only nice to you when they’re kittens. After they grow up they’re always out of the house and don’t come back till late at night. You’ll only see them when you put food out

 

I think it would be better for you and your bf to go to a shelter and visit the adoptables from both sections. You'll find one that connects with your personalities. It's sometimes difficult to give blanket statements about the entire species.
