  1. hi everyone, sO iM WrItInG a FaNtASY nOvEl, and one common thing authors of this genre do is use ANALOGUES, or, things that are comparable to one another.

for example, if you create a world and one of the continents is comparable to asia, while another author has done the same thing, is it copying? like, is the whole idea of the analog thing based off places but not directly copying considered copying, especially if it is similar to of another author? i didn’t explain it good i’m so sorry but pls halp.

  2. Is tea involved?
    *makes tea*

  3. I'm no expert but I'd assume copying content is considered plagiarism?

Not sure if the other thing you mentioned falls under that term or not.

  4. yes but i’d rather not say ️

  5. No vaxxers. Oh wait this is about books? Sorry I only read tEXtBoOks

  6. you know how many authors have places based on Asia? hundreds. no, that isn't an issue because "Asian"? Chinese? culture isn't copyrighted.

  7. so if someone made a map of their fantasy world that looked similar to the whole of eurasia, and another other did the same thing before them, and then more and more do the same, that whole idea of making a fantasy world based on the whole of eurasia isn’t copying those who did the same, correct?

  8. nah not an issue but if the outline and certain key details of the culture plus+ name are the same, it might be. but even if it was identical to Asia itself, that'd be fine.

  9. Taking bits and pieces from other works of art, and then making them your own isn’t copying. Unless you’re tracing or word for word rewriting, you’re free to do your own thing.

Unless it’s Disney. Don’t fück with Disney
