Things you need to know (the simplified version): It's a blood moon and a lunar eclipse at the SAME FRIGGIN TIME IT'S AWESOME It will be occurring later THIS MONTH Totalily will occur 9:12 PM PST on January 20th and last an hour (according to predictions from NASA) The next one won't be until May 26th, 2021 Unfortunately, not all parts of the world will be able to view it Entire eclipse visible All of total+ partial visible All of total eclipse visible Some of total eclipse visible Only partial+ penumbral visible Some of penumbral eclipse visible Basically, the darker the red, the more of the eclipse you will be able to view I'M SUPER FRIGGIN EXCITED FOR THIS GUYS LIKE AAAAH!!! I'll probably be bumping this thread to post some pictures that I take. Did anyone else know about this? Is anyone else as excited about this as Chill and I are? Will anyone else be posting pictures? Thanks to Chill for listening to me read about it, get hyped about it, and for helping me code the thread. I'm very excited to share this experience with you ?
Omg I didn’t hear about this but I am definitely excited and will make plans to see it and get pictures !!
The red color is caused by Rayleigh scattering of sunlight through the Earth's atmosphere, the same effect that causes sunsets to appear red
