Shipping.

  1. Yes, the major reason why TV shows and other forms of entertainment go down the drain. Shipping.

So, I’ve been watching The 100 and I noticed people shipping two characters with no hints of interest in each other and seem to have a completely platonic relationship.

Basically, I’m asking. What makes a good ship? And don’t say “chemistry” because I’ve seen many people say, “They have great chemistry,” but I don’t see it???

  2. Thought this was gonna be about price of shipping for online purchases coz I was gonna be like riiiiight.
But I don’t care about this.

  3. Tbh a solid hull and a good rudder works for me

    Buwbuw likes this.
  4. There is no such thing as a proper “good ship” imo unless it’s a canon thing. Are the characters disclosed to be or extremely obviously each other crushes? Great! Good ship. Other than that? Everything is just how people perceive what makes a relationship or crush.

  5. nothing and everything makes a "good ship." to me, a ship is just a ship. riverdale is a good example for ships.

varchie — veronica and archie: have chemistry, have liked/like each other, were/are in a relationship

barchie — betty and archie: long lasting friendship, have chemistry, have liked each other, are neighbors

bughead — betty and jughead: have a mutual friend, have liked/like each other, chemistry, have been/are in a relationship, aesthetically pleasing

↓ this one is not popular, because the characters are not close, i suppose↓

vughead — veronica and jughead: not much chemistry, close to no common interests, hardly friends, aesthetically pleasing

ships are all based on an audience member's opinion. there's not really a set list of qualifications a ship needs to have in order to be a "good ship." some people like more ships than others, just because.

not to mention — veronica + betty, cheryl + toni, jughead + toni, kevin + archie, kevin + jauquine, fp + alice.

riverdale has so many ships, and different ships were thought up for different reasons. usually it's because of chemistry between the two characters and other times it's just because the characters would look good togehter. depends on who you talk to i guess.

  6. If it ain't gay I don't want it. Period.

  7. first one must define the term. What is a ship?

  8. This is what's happening to the Hamilton fandom. The shipping is very annoying

  9. The actual play is annoying

  10. Okay, there are some dumb moments but how is it annoying? :c Unless it's because it doesn't fully follow history, then ripperoni.

  11. Here's a really good essay regarding my issue (and others' issues) with it.

  12.
  13. I wrote a whole reply on why I disagree with that essay, but I realized that I didn't disagree with that essay in particular, I just disagree with the whole "nitpicking on political correctness" phase we're in.

I'm just not keen to analyze every action and art to pick out its problems. It just takes the joy out of things. :c

Yikes. It's not good to be ignorant, but I'd rather be happy and simple minded. oh wow, I am a sheep. Baaaaa...

  14. Yeah, I mean, Hamilton makes me uncomfortable regardless of the sociopolitical reasons it's problematic just because it rubs me personally wrong that it's like "what if these slave owners... were black too and enjoyed black culture". Like a lot of those historical figures were legit racists.

I guess that's in line with the sociopolitical reasoning, but I mean more it rubs me wrong rather than me being like "oh someone said it's bad so I don't like it".

  15. I guess I never took into their actual history that seriously, because I never cared to learn American history. It's really just a play for me.

But yeah, I agree that Hamilton just isn't the most.. historically and politically correct play. It was created to be entertaining and inclusive, and when based on real people, I can see why people would be disturbed. .-.

Has there even been any "based on a true story" works that didn't make someone mad? rip.

  16. I don't think the whole "what makes a good ship" thing even matters. Ships are just peeps fantasies going wild, liek they don't need to make sense brah, they don't need to have chemistry, hell the ship can be the villain and the main hero saying "fùck this lets just get together and bang" You can ship the main character with a fockin rock and shyt. Many fictional character's dont even have a one true love or some shyt, so all of it is just free game. I suppose. It's just fantasy. Lol fantasies dont have rules, they dont need to make sense and all that.

I dont even pay attention to much of it cuz at the end of the day it's just harmless and crap, it won't ruin a show for me, cuz why would someone's harmless fantasy even get to me?

Have fun with yo ship peeps.

  17. Is a ship just tween lingo for fan fiction?

  18. Shipping is my fav part of tv and movies

  19. No. Ship just means you want the characters to be in a relationship. People often write fan fiction about ships, but fan fiction doesn't have to inherently be about them.

  20. I like shipping as well until they go against what you ship and do fan service for the other ship :( Ships aren’t necessarily bad, but fan service sucks.
