Ok... deep breath. I realize that this topic is very volatile, and I have wanted to bring it up for a long time. I am asking everyone to please refrain from making accusations such as: “But you have like 10,000 alts”... “You farmed my first born back in 2013” “You and the devs shared accounts” and so forth... We were all young once... Now, my topic is ALTs. My questions are... Do you think that the alt culture improved the game, or has it driven the game into the ground? If you think THE ALT CULTURE has contributed to the downfall of PIMD, what would you suggest as a solution to the disadvantages players that choose to have one account face... and/or how can ATA do more to even the odds? (Particularly concerning misc and farming) Discuss.
I think alts are dumb but I never knew a time before people using alts. I do not have any myself. I had an account I made to learn some parts of the newest noob tutorial, and one to house the IGN firebends that I log into occasionally, but I wouldn't really count those as alts because I do not actively maintain them or use them for anything really. So I wouldn't say they're alts. I do think people need to pay more attention to ToU's alt account clause. There's only so many you're allowed to have and I think a lot of people would be in trouble if ATA decided to be more vigilant about that.
I know some people that have way too many. Very active, dedicated players that keep up with drop requirements. Most of these accounts are not chat active, and I feel like it hurts club chat a bit. A lot are to just store igns, like Hailey just said. A properly used alt can make Hunts like this very easy.
I have more alts than I care to admit ?they do help in some areas and I give each one their own “job” however for some people they do get exploited in many ways. For those who only have one account (no not secret alts but purely one) it just takes better strategy to do certain things like farming or getting drops. There’s plenty of people who do better for ex: in hunts than I do despite my alts so I don’t think it quite “better’s” chances but there can be advantages to things
Personally I find it commendable when people can be bothered to do alts... But I really don't like it at its core. I sorta wish we were all limited to two accounts... But I also don't want alts above like 10mcs to just be evicted from campus, so it's an irreversible competitive edge that you can choose to take advantage of
