Most CF terms didn't include resets( I understand you didn't play at the time so you wouldn't know ) Anyways, people would reset to avoid being farmed. You could keep your account in limbo for a couple days-months until they forgot about you then continue with account setup.
Oh one thing about the button i never liked was tutors suddenly resetting which of course caused you to drop them, wasn’t fun trying to keep max plunder with the never ending chance one would reset
