  2. I vote that you be that someone. dispose of me ty

  3. This is a dictatorship. No votes allowed.

  4. O sorri your majesty. i dictate that you be that someone

  5. How barbaric.

  6. How about we start by doing away with this thread?

  7. OP is right though, seriously.. those floating garbage islands in the middle of the ocean make me sad.. we recycle what we can, but I know we could do so much better 

  8. Nuke 'em.

  9. If that were the solution, I’m not sure which would be the lesser of two evils..

  10. True af. I legit cri everytime i think of dolphins with bits of plastic stuck to their faces

  11. The radiation would probably be negligible, and people would not die (unless people are living in these garbage islands). Of course, nuking them is not a solution, but it definitely is not a moral wrong.

  12. You think nuking islanders is okay?

  13. @_-Wednesday-_

I am referring to the uninhabited trash "islands" in the Pacific Ocean. There are no people on them, so I am not advocating using nuclear weapons against islanders. I only included the "unless people are living" on them as a side comment meant to add strength to my point since people do not inhabit them.

I suggested using nuclear weapons against the trash "islands" as a joke.

However, there are definitely circumstances in which it would be morally permissible to use nuclear weapons against people living on an island. The two uses of atomic bombs in warfare by the United States of America are examples.

  14. Hmmmmm. Idk what the point of nuking them would be tbh. Maybe we could use them for extra farming space or smthing if they're uninhabited by ppl. I just don’t see the pojnt of nuking places on earth and hurting the air quality more than it already has been

  15. Some of them are just masses of trash; not actual islands that just became overrun by garbage so they couldn't be used for farm land. But I like the idea!

  16. READ THIS AND UNDERSTAND: THE NUKING COMMENT WAS A JOKE, NOT A SERIOUS PROPOSAL.

They cannot be farmed. They are large, floating collections of garbage that has been dumped in the Pacific Ocean. The currents have caused them to form into "islands." They are not real islands.

Our oceanic nuclear weapons tests after the Second World War have not killed us all, so I doubt nuking trash would do any real harm to us. It may. I do not know; I do not care. Why? Because no one is seriously proposing that. Although, a nuclear blast should disintegrate a lot of the trash.

  17. There is, however, a problem facing our oceans that no one seems to be addressing and gets very little coverage: the rusting of the ships that were sank during the Second World War. These ships had large amounts of oil when they went down. So far, their oil tanks have contained the oil, but when they rust out, the oil will escape. I remember something on National Geographic a few years ago about a German U-boat which sank off the coast of one of the Scandinavian states. She was leaking mercury and is poisoning the fish in the nearby waters preventing the fish from being consumed by people.

  18. Am drinking so excuse me if i take everything u say a lil too seriously. But even if was not a serious proposal nuking is a bad idea. And otay. Ty for your opinions

  19. O that's interesting. I did not know about that. I wonder if anyone is doing anything about it

  20. NOAA is working with the ASA to remove the ships with the highest immediate risk of leaking from the oceans but it isn't quite enough, tbh. That is all I know of so far, though. NOAA is amazing.
