Music Discussion Thread

  1. Since i think i'm the only person in PIMD that has enthusiasm in HiFi audio, i'm tempted to start a thread exclusively for music lovers, audiophiles and RL DJs in PIMD!

If you have any problems about your speakers, or just looking for a pair of great headphones, then this thread is the best place for you to look for. It doesn't have to be on topic so ask whatever question that you wanna ask about music and audio and i'll be glad to answer it.

  2. Lmao this thread can either go great or horribly

  3. But either way, support singers like Roy Blair, EDEN, and Rex Orange County kthnxbye ?

  4. Who tf they?? They sound stupid

  5. Umm well Roy Blair is a less known singer but he writes his own stuff, along with the other two, and it’s gr8, he kind of has his own style of indie with rap. Rex is just now starting to blow up and he’s like indie/alt. hip hop (good shít) and EDEN is alt./indie and going on a world tour rn I love him (‘:

  6. I’d say the latter

  7. Listen to Alice in Chains

  8. Check out Two Feet

  9. I love Rex :)

  10. Music is subjective ? i also don't trust a strangers opinions on what i should spend my money on. Tbh i've found great headphones from the dollar store that lasted almost a year til my cat chewed thru em

  11. I recently ran out of storage for my FLAC/ALAC music collection, most of them are in 24/96 and i don't know what to do now. For now i use Tidal for music streaming, but i might as well get a external HDD to upgrade my storage. BTW is getting a NAS worth the money?

  12. If the headphones from the dollar store should be sufficiently enough for your needs, then it's to you. Meanwhile i prefer to cheap but decent audio equipment like the Audio Technica ATH-M40x.

  13. Edit: i meant it's up to you, not it's to you..

Sorry for the typo, and just skip this message.

  14. No matter how hard you try google will always win

  15. I use beats by dre headphones. Yes, I understand they're expensive. And yes I understand I'm supporting apple. But I do not care. I like rap and other music that has heavy bass drops. I like feeling my head vibrate when the bass drops. I have tried and cannot find another headphone that performs like mine.

  16. What do you recommend most for portable BT speaker, I'm stuck between a Sony XB30/31, or a JBL Charge 3 ?

  17. The Ultimate Ears UE MEGA BOOM is the best budget BT speakers for $150 on Amazon. It has solid, waterproof build, good looks and fires out a punchy, exciting sound.

Battery life and build quality are excellent, and whether you use it indoors or outside, you’re in for a musical treat.

The downsides of the speaker is that you'll need to download UE's app on App Store or Google Play in order to give you access to the UE’s sound settings.

There are four presets in total: ‘The Standard’, which is their signature EQ, ‘Bass Jump’ which literally means more bass boost, ‘Cramped Spaces’ for reduced treble and ‘Voices’ for vocal enhancement.

These EQ presets excluding 'the Standard', according to my experience, makes the sound more muddy in the highs so bad that it affects the sound quality a lot.

I'll advise you stick with 'The Standard' or, if you want to turn the bass down a notch, tap the Custom mode and drop the EQ levels to zero.

  18. The Sony MDR-XB950BT headphones truly outperforms the Beats in terms of bass as well as sound quality. The midrange clarity definately had blown my mind after trying them for the first time. The soundstage is impressive and wide, which is typical for mid-end Sony headphones.

It certainly makes my Beats Solo 2 sound like tin-cans, although when both are amped using a really good headphone DAC amp, the Beats sound nearly as identical as the Sony.

Try the Sony's XB series of headphones and you'll never look back.

  19. Music Discussion Megathread

Hmm.. Everyone seems to be silent.. Might as well moving this thread to an existing one..
