  1. On this day we celebrate the anniversary of the adoption of our Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress during the Revolution.

We are a freeborn people, chosen to lead.

May God preserve our Union and our Liberty.

May God bless these United States and increase our glory.

  2. america was invaded and stolen from the people that lived there first. sure, we're "independent" and helping other countries, but america is all about freedom when at the same time americans were all in all awful people.
no tea, no shade. but like. i personally think america is gross and hypocritical/a joke. that's just me though.

  3. Yeah. I disagree with your use of "stolen" when "conquered" is more accurate, but you are free to think what you want to think.

Also, I think your point is historically universal and therefore meaningless in a larger sense.

  4. Conquered seems apt.

  5. Very good point.

  6. The more Jeffersonian "Empire of Liberty" idea is hypocritical. But if you're more in line with Washington or Calhoun's philosophy of government, mistreating non-citizens is not hypocritical. I'm not taking a position on how America should treat non-Americans in this thread, but I do want to point out that a differentiation is not necessarily hypocritical.

  7. America was Britains greatest gift to the world. Change my mind.

  8. I don't see the 4th of July as a celebration anymore as of 2016 because my grandfather, who raised me, passed away from cancer. So, for me, it's really going to the cemetery and laying flowers down and drinking whiskey. RIP Papa.

  9. Was the declaration of independence a bad thing?

mourn on the day Americans first stepped foot in the Americas... or some other day leading up to the conquering of North America... one of those days. 4th of July is just DoI day.

  10.

  11. It’s just another day for people to make an excuse to get highly intoxicated and kill someone on the highway.

  12. America, awesome people, although sometimes a tad too opinionated and self-centered (world-wise). Great military, fun culture, hate the politics and religion there. UFOs. Cat memes. Giant food portions. Happy Independence day to you guys!

  13. 'Murica

  14.
  15. July 4th is also the day America gave independence to the Philippines which most people don't know.

  16. Philippine Republic Day is celebrated June 12th though!
