Is God Real?

  1. This is not meant to cause drama.

I created this thread out of curiosity, because I want to see who does and who doesn't believe in god, and their reasoning behind their opinion. What experience(s) led them to believe this etc.

    Again
This was not meant to cause drama or anything of the sort.

  2. I would like to think there is a higher power, but I neither believe in the conventional Abrahamic God nor subscribe to any other organized religion. I have no disrespect to those that do, though.

Sidenote: I was raised Roman Catholic.

  3. I believe there is a god. I believe the Christian God (who is, if the Faith is true, the God of Abraham, not the Abrahamic God) is that god.

I believe the belief in a generic god is necessary to be a truly rational person.

My specific belief is due to personal experiences and upbringing.

  4. I believe God is real but the question is where was he before the earth was created where did he come from ?

  5. I believe that it's like a codename or an X-value. An unknown entity that is an originator of the laws of the universe, of physics, society, and most, if not every field of knowledge.

  6. I said Abrahamic because of the Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. All of those religions believe in the story of Abraham and his sons.

  7. Abraham predates Christ and Christianity?

  8. I'm not stupid, and my correction was not in response to you. It was a clarification of my own belief.

  9. Yes. And Islam. (He also predates Judaism if you believe it started with Moses.) Judaism, Christianity, and Islam claim to be the religion of the God Abraham worshipped.

  10. I never claimed or implied you were stupid.

  11. God is not real

  12. I believe in a high power. I just don't call it God. But to me there is something out there that controls life and death.

  13. God is real. He shows himself in countless ways to those whom are faithful to him.

  14. i believe more in a divine universal energy that is within and around everything. below that are the different deities.

i believe in the abrahamic god as existing, but not as the only deity.

  15. no

  16. Raised Roman Catholic, was a Protestant for a few years and now I'd say I'm agnostic. I find it difficult to adhere to any systematic religion and I'd like to believe that God is a benevolent force if ever.

  17. I'm non-religious and was raised a Jehovah's Witness, but in recent years I just lost interest in it and started to question the Christian religion more. I fell out of it and felt as though I didn't agree with what they did. Maybe God exists, maybe they don't. The reality of it is, being non-religious, I don't really care to know. I would be interested in becoming more in tune with myself and nature in some other way, though.
