  1. I lay in my bed, thinking about the dangers that lay beyond my bedroom door waiting for me. I stared at the ceiling daydreaming on what monsters craved my pale skin and crimson red blood, but nothing happened.
I still laid staring at the ceiling but I wasn’t daydreaming. I heard a sudden scratch at the bottom of my bedroom door...it sounded like my young puppy dog. I clambered myself out of my blush coloured sheets on my bed and paced to the door, I slowly opened it to see my puppy dog.
I picked up the small, black Labrador puppy and walked back to my bed, where I sat him on the bed and snuggled him under the sheets when I heard another noise coming from my apartment hallway. I thought my neighbour must have accidentally walked into the wrong apartment (I live in 12A and she lives in 12C but others lived on the same floor) when I heard a loud clash of pots and pans.
I leave my puppy on the bed and walk to the door again across the hardwood floor. I hear another loud bang as I start to twist the golden doorknob. The sound suddenly stopped.
I heard the footsteps of my neighbour leading to the bathroom so I quietly snuck out of my bedroom and slowly walked down the hallway. I seen the light on in the bathroom but what I saw next was utterly horrifying. It was a monster. A creature of many natures. I saw a gigantic shadow in the light reflecting onto the hallway floor. It was wide and tall and angry. I didn’t know what to do so I quickly snuck back to my room but as I shut the door, I knocked a lamp off my chest of drawers.
My heart beat out of my chest as it hit the floor. The creature stopped making noise in the bathroom and I heard the footsteps heading towards my bedroom door. I grabbed my puppy and hit under my oak wood bed, putting some boxes and other junk in front of us so it couldn’t see us.
I glanced up at the door and saw the doorknob turning. My puppy was scared also, he was cowering down and snuggling into my sweater. I put my head down to try and muffle my breathing as the monster walked into my bedroom. How this thing got in, I will never know as I always shut and lock my doors and windows. The creature walked around my room searching the dark place for the noise it heard of the lamp falling. My puppy got even more scared and made a whining noise, the monster drew its attention to my bed, which we were under.
It paced its way over to where we were and sniffed about to see if it could smell us. I became so petrified that I made a slight breathing sound, which may have been my last sound I’ll ever make. Until...
My apartment door burst open and the monster turned its head to the sound. I heard the sound of heavy boots walking quickly towards the monster, me and my puppy when I realised the boots that stood before my bedroom door.
It was my neighbour from 12B! The monster growled at them and made a loud irritating sound that could’ve deafened you, it sounded like sirens but right in your ear. I heard an even louder bang as the monster fell to the floor. My neighbour had shot it with a gun of some sort I assumed. He knelt down beside my bed and told me it was okay to come out. I wriggled out and my puppy waddled out after me. The monster was lying dead on the floor.
I glanced at his gun he was holding, it was a shotgun. I thanked him for everything and asked him what it was, he told me was an Arkyst. He said that Arkyst’s wonder people’s houses searching for a small snack and I glanced down at my puppy, glad he wasn’t taken.
Knowing that these monsters are everywhere scared me more. I let my neighbour out and locked my door. I walked back to my bed and let my dog sleep on my bed also. I couldn’t sleep after what had happened that October night.
As I almost fell asleep, my eyes felt heavy and they shut. I woke up again to my puppy snuggling beside me. My eyes widened as I heard pots and pans clanking in the kitchen...
